St. John Chrysostom is one of the greatest Fathers of the Church, especially remembered for his great ability as a preacher, and for his commentaries on Scripture, which are still read and admired today. During his sermons as archbishop of the capital city, which were much admired by the people, he spoke fearlessly, and offending the empress for her personal excesses, she had him punished him severely, to his death.
