This brilliant figure learned many languages and had the Bible memorized in the original Greek and Hebrew languages. This man, now honored as a Doctor of the Church, preached sermons with great power all over Europe. Then as chaplain of the Christian imperial army, he rode in the lead during great battles against the Muslims who were invading central Europe in overwhelming numbers–and the honor of their victory was attributed by the entire army to this saint.
