I love St. Martha. I always feel bad for her when homilies and such say that she was too busy running around cooking dinner to really pay attention and listen to God. The way the Bible is written it sounds kind of cold.

I think it was more like when she got perturbed, Jesus smiled, gave her a big hug and said "Martha, Martha, Martha. Come on, I’ve barely had a chance to talk with you since I got here. Sit down, take a load off. So we eat dinner a little late, that’s fine. I want to talk with you and see how you’ve been doing. Come visit with me like your sister Mary is doing. That’s what’s most important to me. "

It’s kind of fitting that during her feast day I’ll be cleaning my house and buying food for guests that I’m hosting in my home on Sunday. I’m hosting game night for some fellow Christian young adults. God’s timing, I suppose. 😃

This is the Jesus I like to picture in my mind, too.🙂
