From my understanding the same will be happening in the US soon. There are parishes and individuals in several states that are entering the Ordinariate. Also all the Anglican Use Catholic Churches will be entering.
There are many of us who are praying that one particular priest will be made the Ordinary of the Ordinariate in the US. He is a wonderful priest and pastor and understands both the Anglicans in their journey and of course being a Catholic priest Anglican Use for the past 30 years understands what it is to be Catholic.
There are several small groups of Anglicans who are meeting to celebrate Evening Prayer and then meeting to discuss the Ordinariate. We shall have to wait and see how many others follow once the Ordinariate is established.
From all the comments I have read on the web, the most hostile and sometimes very angry people are Anglicans from the Continuing groups in the US. As far of the CoE, I don’t believe that there are more than two groups who broke away and some of them are also coming.
As the article said it is a great sacrifice for the priests who are going into the unknown and many who will have nothing to bring with them, except their deep faith in the truth of the Catholic Church. I know two who have 6 and 7 children, there might be many more with larage families to support. I can’t see anyone giving up their income with a large family unless they sincerely believe that the Lord is leading them into the Church
Why there is so much outrage from some I don’t understand, one’s faith journey is a personal journey and it really is insensitive for others to judge those who are becoming Catholic.
This is a movement of the Holy Spirit and from the priests I know who are coming, they are some of the finest ones I have ever known.
Yours in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary
