Both sentenced to death for being Christians, they were sent to die together in a stadium in the time of the Roman Empire. Perpetua kept a diary of what happened, which was completed by someone else, an extraordinary account which was read during mass in Catholic Churches afterwards like Scripture. They are now remembered by name during the mass, in the first Echaristic Prayer.
