This article has lots of photos of the cathedral, including its demolition by the Soviets and how it became a swimming pool.

But like like Christ, the cathedral returned to the faithful.

Thanks for posting this. An interesting piece of history. Speaking of Mother Russia, the book, The Way of the Pilgrim and The Pilgrim continues His Way (translated by Helen Bacovcin) is just fantastic as you read about this humble Russian peasant, searching for an answer having to do with a commandment he heard one day spoken by a priest. This is one of my all-time favorite books. Amazon has it.
