The strange voice praying the Rosary

Praying for souls in hell goes against Church teaching and is not from God. God never comes to a soul asking or saying anything contrary to the Gospel and the Tradition of the Church. Souls once they have rejected God have rejected Him forever and it is of no use to pray for them, they have chosen their eternity for themselves. Infact the souls in hell would hate and detest your prayers for them.

I would completely ignore what you experienced its origin is eitehr a result of the imagination or is from the devil.

If you did pray, God will make good use of your prayers and don’t worry about it.

If you experience anything else of this nature go and speak with your Priest for his discernment whether it is spiritual or not.

Don’t worry and carry on praying. Sometimes the devil can interfere in our prayer life specifically in order to deter us from praying and deepening our prayer life with Jesus, this is to impede our spiritual growth and to try and stop us growing closer to Jesus and being transformed into the likeness of Christ.

Pray for all the souls who are dying and do not know Jesus nor love Him and that they may receive a final grace to come to Jesus before they die. You may like to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet for these souls.

Persevere in prayer and don’t worry.

Thanks! I don’t know why I would imagine such a thing. I’ve never even thought about doing that before, praying for the lost souls of hell. Anyway , I prayed that night to St. Michael and he took care of that. But thank you for the advice. I love praying the Rosary and nothing is going to deter me ! :knight2:

That’s a very cool way to look upon it! I don’t know you but I bet your prayer life is as solid as a rock or in reality like the “little stone” David used to slay the Giant! I’m a guy, so …we think simpler and probably use the simplest things around…like small rocks

Maybe it is the little voice of Jacinta (from the Fatima apparitions). She was only 6 and I have a feeling that she is still close to Our Lady. If you are hearing her voice, it’s a good thing.

When we pray the Rosary we are praying a prayer of the Church and you can bet anytime you pick up your Rosary and pray it another Catholic somewhere in the world is praying it at exactly the same time and in sync with you and your son.

I think you were allowed to realise this by hearing that ‘voice’. and I believe this was to encourage you to pray the Rosary with others and to encourage others to pray. You told someone of this and hey, you are praying the Rosary with others! The grace was received and is producing fruit.

If we experience something from God it is very hard to forget it, it is also very hard to ignore it. St John does not teach to forget or ignore what a soul experiences, what he teaches is that the soul does not cling to or base their faith upon it. St John of the Cross is often misinterpreteted to mean that we should totally write off all spiritual experiences. I tell you if you experience something from God no matter how hard you try you will not be able to write it off or ignore it. In a way it is a way of discernment as when St John instructs not to cling to the experience, God will persist in bringing the experience to the soul again.

St John of the Cross did not teach himself prayer to the point of deep contemplation nor did he instruct himself on how to understand prayer so deeply. St John’s works are a result of God’s work in him and all of it is grace embraced by St John.

It’s helpful to think of that poor brother St John knew with the Rosary beads. That brother went about with those beads and loved them as much if not more than the prayers he said upon them. St John snatched them off him and did not return them to him. Now if that poor brother had owned those Rosary beads and thanked God for them, but refocused himself upon the prayers and whilst liked and was thankful he had the beads he did not love the beads but had a great love of God and the gift of faith God had given him, then this brother would not have found himself deprived of his beads. It is the same in spiritual matters, to guard against silly fascination with the mystical and not focusing on God, the soul is advised similarly not to cling to these experiences (it is to safeguard the faith of the soul and other souls -from deception- and to guard against poor spiritual paths). However if God does truly send a spiritual experience to someone trials will not be far away both spiritual and in other ways and the experience will have a good effect in the world as to what God desires in His will.

If you experience anything further, don’t put it about to people, just tell a Priest or a Religious Sister/Brother and no-one else. Afterall you don’t want people coming to pray with you just because they may ‘experience’ something, that would not be a good road to go down, I’m not saying that is why the people are praying with you, but I would safeguard them and yourself by only speaking with a Priest.

Now that you have an informal monthly Rosary group you may like to ask for your Parish Priest’s blessing and ask him how he would like to see it grow and develop. It is only right to involve your Parish Priest in this and ask for his involvement, support and guidance; if he would like to attend he can provide the much needed answers to questions people ask and you too will grow in your love and knowledge of the faith.

You have given me alot to think about and I am a little spooked about what you said about trials because some things have happened. I don’t know, because of what you said, if I should repeat them. But lets just say that I am struggling with a few different things that came about in days after this event. I’ve been offering my suffering for the poor souls, like we are supposed to, but it only gets worse. It seems I am being punished but I am not sure. I was starting to think that maybe the voice was from a bad place because what is happening doesn’t feel good.

Can I say that much? I hope so.

I would like to get our priest involved but we only have one for a huge parish and his health is poor. He doesn’t seem to even say masses all that often anymore and when he does he has a deacon do the homily. My point is that he isn’t available to us for these extra things. All we can do is pray for him. Apparently there is a shortage of priests.

I don’t think people are coming to say the rosary with me because of what happened, at least I hope not. The idea of it makes me feel ill. One woman has terminal cancer and is searching for hope and finding it through the rosary in Mary. Others are her friend also finding hope through Mary.

I don’t know. I mean no harm.

Maybe it was the soul of someone in purgatory, someone in your family. Perhaps it was a child you had that you didn’t know you had. The majority of conceptions are spontaneously aborted by the body without the mother ever even knowing she was pregnant. Perhaps it is your daughter.

Maybe looking back on that it was a bad thing to do. It’s just that it seems like 2 people praying the rosary is so lonely and it doesn’t seem that this is a common practice around here.

There’s nothing wrong with asking the angels and saints to pray with you. We are one body in Christ.

Well, I’m not one to believe in ghosts either but this has happened to me as well, but I was grateful, since I was praying the Rosary alone. It sounded like a voice within or at least close by , but doubling my own. I took it for an Angel close by , so I welcome it I had another experience when I started to visit the Blessed Sacrament regularly a few months ago. Well I would go in the church where the Sacrament would be and I would kneel, not long after that women would be crying. This happened three separate times ( at three different churches. The woman would be close by, always directly behind or next to me …not whimpering , more like loud crying… it was strange since noone approached them or even noticed them. I thought to approach them but since they were in the right place for crying and already praying, I thought there was nothing else I could offer except a charitable prayer and a God blessing under my breath and also because I didn’t want to distract them as they were intensely in focus towards God. My mother cries while she prays most of the time, so I didn’t think anything of it.

I also had visions of “lost souls in hell” while I’m alone in prayer at night asking me to pray for them…but I read that you’re not supposed to do that…right? Since you would be inviting them into your house? But it was probably my imagination?

I say there’s nothing wrong with the extra voice either as they are praying the Rosary though Thanks for sharing!

I don’t think praying for lost souls would ever do any harm. I think you need to give the prayers to Mary or Jesus and let them distribute your prayers to the appropriate souls. Mary and Jesus will know what happened and take care of it. As for inviting them in, I would think that can only be done if try to talk to them or something. However …I am not an expert.

Exactly. I hope my post wasn’t misleading, but it probably was. If God wants you to pay attention to something, he’ll force the issue. The idea is to be detached from it, and submissive to the Church.

St John of the Cross spends a lot of time on spiritual gifts, because, I think, he knows in practice that God will give them, and we should know how to deal with them.

I don’t think anybody is misleading me. We are all human and I know this. I think we are here to help eachother but ultimately each of us is responsible for our own souls. I believe this so don’t worry about misleading me to much. I am just looking for thoughts.

Thank you for your advice I’ve heard that it’s not a good thing to pray for lost souls though, from a few of the many priests that I listen to on weekly basis from MP3s.

Anyway , as I’ve said , I don’t have a big belief in ghosts or these apparitions, at least in my life, and let me tell I don’t want any. That said, I’ve noticed stuff that , and I hope it was an Angel. I want to share this with you, eventhough i don’t expect anyone to know what it was. Anyway, I just finished praying Rosary in the early hours of the morning, and it was still dark. My curtains were still closed. Anyway, I just finished say a personal prayer (with my eyes closed) and when I finished it, I open my eyes and I noticed this “streak of light” , that immediately shot straight up. It appeared to be more than streak of light…it had width and height…now I don’t take drugs , and by nature am skeptical, and logical ( so I thought ) Anyway, it appeared like this “apparition” , acknowledged my prayer request and took it up to God…anyway , that’s what the believing side of me says it was. The other side says, that it was a reflection from something outside…but for the life of me can’t figure how a reflection could appear that big and shot straight up as soon as my prayer was over. Anyway, I’ve shared this with my devout friend, and she thinks it was a supernatural being. I tell you one thing though, when I pray now, I keep my eyes shut Oh by the way, I do believe they happen, as in Lourdes and Fatima and Medjugorje…just not to me ( not that I’m looking for them ) …Anyway, for what it’s worth…there’s my story…

(This happened a couple weeks ago.)

My son and I have begun praying the Rosary occasionally in the evenings before bed. The second time we were praying something odd happened.

I clearly heard a little girl praying with us. I stopped my son from praying so I could listen to her and she stopped also. I asked him if he heard anything and he said no, but I did not tell him what I thought I heard. So we continued to pray. The little girls voice became louder and the room became hot. She was so clear and loud I am sure anyone standing even in the next room would’ve heard her. My sons eyes opened wide because he was hearing her also. We listened to her praying with us for the entire third decade of the Rosary and then she stopped and we’ve heard nothing of her since.

I asked my son (13 yrs old) what he thought he heard and he described it as a little girl maybe 6 years old praying loudly with us. This is the same thing I heard. He said he isn’t afraid because he doesn’t believe evil would pray with us and I tend to agree.

I still must question though. Should we be afraid?

The next day I confided in my mother and some of her friends (one of whom is dying of cancer.) They all were surprised that we pray the rosary and later asked if they could join us. What surprised me is that they actually came to my house and one brought her granddaughter and they aren’t even Catholic.

We prayed the rosary and now they think it is wonderful and all of them are saying it on their own. Some on a nightly basis and they want to come say it with us again in a month.

Could all of this be related?

I have to admit I just don’t know what to think about all of this. It is very strange.

I’m no mystic but this could’ve been the soul of someone who still needed a few Hail Marys to make the transition into heaven from…wherever she may have been.

We had a similar experience during our home rosary on Tuesday. It was my wife, her sister, her husband and myself. Halfway thru the fourth Sorrowful mystery I noticed my wife looking abruptly over her right shoulder, as if something was there (and there wasn’t). She did this 3 times and at the end of the rosary she asked for us to say an additional Hail Mary for several of her dead relatives. I immediately made the connection although no one else noticed.
She later confirmed to me that she “felt” their presence during the rosary and sensed that “they” were there because of the family rosary. Nothing else was said.

The Rosary is a powerful, earth-moving devotion. In prophecies it is said that it is the “cord which will bind the devil”.
