His Holiness is very, very good friends with Yeldo Mor Tithos, Archbishop of the Malankara Archdiocese of the Syriac Orthodox Church, based in New York. They literally lived next door to each other for decades, and served the Syriac Orthodox communities in the US together, even though the Malankara Archdiocese is administratively separate.
