Dear God,

I’m so scared.

A part of me says “no” to ivf because i’m afraid that there may be lost souls in the process. but the world - my wife and family and friends and more - tell me to say “yes”.

i don’t want to offend you and lose any souls.

help us to make the right decision. And if I make the wrong decision - which I’m afraid i might - forgive me and have mercy on the lost souls.

please take this decision out of my hands.

The church teaches against it for valid reasons. The ego wants to see a bloodline continued. God knows that there are living children who need adoptive parents. Why should a child have to die so that you “might” have one of your own? Life and death are not to be trifled with. They are God’s gifts and are not to be rejected. God will decide if you are to have a child of your own bloodline or not. Go visit an orphanage in a third world country sometime and cry as you see the longing in the faces of the children just begging to have a family of their own-worrying that they might be the last to be adopted, or worse, not adopted at all. The only hint you’ll need is alrady contained in your post.

O Jesus, I humbly implore you to grant extra special graces on this family. Hear us, Lord, and send your angel from heaven to visit, guide, protect, comfort, and defend this family. Give them the strenght to face your will. Guide them in the correct direction.

You know in your heart and through the gift of reason that IVF is wrong (think about all the ethical and moral implications that are present with IVF). Let Christ and His Church help you to overcome the temptation of IVF. Make frequent use of the Sacraments, pray as a couple together (daily), pray as individuals (daily), ask for St. Joseph for his aid (remember he was the adoptive father of Jesus).

Perhaps if you haven’t already seek medical counsel from a Catholic source that specializes in reproductive health, including infertility. naprotechnology.com/ :This is a great source for help, Dr. Hilgers has helped so many couples who have struggled with infertility without resorting to IVF. Maybe give this a try if you haven’t already?

He has - by giving you His Holy Church to guide you and tell you that it is not allowed - for very good and valid reasons.

Now that the decision is no longer yours to make, start living your life according to God’s will, and not spending so much energy on this.

It’s not a decision - it’s a life. Don’t end one (or more) just because of what YOU want.

Will be praying that the Lord will hear your prayers and that all will unfold according to His Will. Joining my prayers will all other posters in this thread as well as your own…
 
Come and fill us, O Spirit of Counsel. Help us and guide us in all our ways, that we may always do Your holy will. Incline our heart to prefer only what is good; turn it away from all that is evil, and direct us by the straight path of Your commandments to that goal of eternal life for which we long. Amen.
