Why is it called “mass”. I know it is from the word “misse” for dismissal, but out of all the latin spoken in the liturgy, why misse? Is there a reason?

Traditionally in Latin:

Ite, missa est.

Literally:

Go (ite), sent (missa) it is (est).

Interpretation:

You can leave now, our sacrifice and our prayers have been sent to the father.

Modern-esque horrible uneducated translation:

Go, the “mass” is finished.

Mass comes from missa which means “sent”.
