the third temple

anyone here believes that there will be a third temple in Israel which will bring about the Messiah? what is your opinion on this?

The third temple is already here. The Exultet which is sung on Holy Saturday states:

I saw water, flowing forth from the temple, from the right side, alleluia!
And all those to whom that water came, they were saved, allelluia, alleluia!

Jesus Christ is the third temple.

No, I don’t personally believe there will be a third temple. That is a protestant viewpoint from a misreading and misinterpretation of the book of Daniel, trying to apply verses which were fulfilled at the second temple and the coming of Christ…to a time 2000 years into the future. It is basically done to deny that Christ came and set up His church, the Catholic church, at that time.

By the way, I assume you are muslim and have read the material about the Dome of the Rock being over this site. Several times in the distant past the building of a third temple was tried, but earthquakes and other ‘natural’ disasters prevented it. If I may ask, what do you think and what makes you ask this question?

I need to make a correction. It is not the Exultet but rather the Vidi Aquam which is sung on Easter Sunday morning. Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa!

On a far more pragmatic level, what fool is going to destroy the Dome of the Rock knowing what would happen? Long before this would happen, the Israeli government would step in and prevent it. The Israeli’s are not fools.

On an even more pragmatic level, the Jewish priesthood necessary for Temple worship has not existed in millenia (despite all the people with the surname Cohen) nor do the accoutrements for the high priest exist nor the red heifer, etc., etc., etc.

The Messiah came 2,000 years ago. He will come again to judge the world not establish a third temple.

yes i am a Muslim but the reason i asked this question was because there was a program about this last night on National Geographic channel… they were showing how there are already tons of plans underway for the third temple such as the blueprint and model temple already built and this guy was saying how they will destroy the dome of the rockand build the 3rd temple there and that all the Muslims will be kicked out and sent back packing to Mecca… it hought that was offensive but whatever…
i dont know much about the history of it though… but if it truly happened i guess its work of God?
