Hi again Tim…All the experiences you have mentioned would be the Second Coming of Christ, which is not just once only in our lives, but happens daily in many ways.
Have I used up my chance having already had an intervention of consolation?
No, you have not used up your only chance with a consolation, or if you had received many consolations. The Second Coming of Christ is renewed daily as we change and grow on our spiritual journey…and He comes to us again too in The Sacrament of Penance with His Abundant Mercy should we stumble and fail, fall into sin.
These are things that are heavy on my mind, that break the peace of a beautiful thing that happened. But should I consider it a warning, a last chance with death waiting to strike or an extra grace?
It is indeed a very beautiful thing that has happened - and it is not a warning or a last chance “with death waiting to strike”…the one thing Satan really likes to do if we let it, is to break our Peace of Mind and Soul and throw us into confusions and doubts. If I should be in confusion and doubts because of my sins, then Confession would be the place to restore my Peace of mind and heart, soul…but sometimes we can find ourselves confused and doubting for no good reason and this is a temptation to abandon our Peace which is the Gift of Jesus to us “My Peace I give to you”.
Since then death has been my constant companion in a car wreck that nearly took out my family, but cost the life of an occupant of another vehicle and the finding of the body of a parent three days dead. I’m a little jumpy now as a result of these encounters.
I am very sorry for you to read this, Tim, and it is entirely understandable to be traumatized in some way by such an overwhelming tragedy.
Have some of us already experienced the second coming? How are we to get by in this world now after being filled with that kind of grace and still able to fall to sin? It still comes down to faith, even for those who have had the Lord greet them with His Spirit for a time. Tim
As long as we walk this earth and even if one was the greatest saint that ever lived, I would remain capable of sin and of mortal sin. It is not a surprise that I sin on any level, it is rather surprising if I do not sin because we are and we remain ever sinners. But we are sinners profoundly and totally loved by God always, and should we fail, stumble and sin…then He sill loves us and still abundantly with His Loving Mercy. All we need do is turn to that Mercy.
Yes it all comes down to Faith and trust in God, in His ever faithful and ever present Love, Concern and Mercy. Even for those who have had some outstanding, rare and unusual meeting with The Lord in some way…some outstanding consolation. And Jesus will continue to come to us as a part of His Second Coming in very many ways as long as we live. It is not just a one only occurance such as His First and Last Comings.
