The Three Days of Darkness

I have heard of The Three Days of Darkness, but am unclear about the details and where Holy Mother Church stands on the issue. When I used the search feature on Catholic.com I got thousands of results - none of them appearing to relate to The Three Days of Darkness. Can anyone explain this or refer me to credible resources?

While I can’t cite any sources, I can share that the “Three Days of Darkness” seems to be traditional, not Scriptural, and based on private revelation(s) which are not approved or rejected by the Church.

Try Cukierski.com for details and recommended sacramentals (blessed candles, etc.) which are supposed to help the faithful survive the days.

That’s a good link. I believe this segment is particularly notable:

Is it to be taken literally or figuratively? I don’t know. Regarding the Third Secret of Fatima the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith wrote that the prophecies of authentic private revelation, like those of Scripture, are symbolic. So, perhaps it refers to the times in which we live, in which hell does seem to be loosed. But symbolic prophecies can have exact historical fulfillments, as the shooting of the Pope did in connection with the Fatima secret. So, perhaps it will have some more literal fulfillment in an event of evident divine punishment. Even the Third Secret threatens that, in the angel’s sword poised to strike the earth unless man repents. Finally, since prophecy is intended to change our behavior to conform to the will of God, it could be that these prophecies, from reliable and holy sources, could or have been mitigated (lessened in intensity, or even changed to a different event). Like the prophecies foretelling the coming of Christ, it is entirely possible that only after the events will Catholics be able to look back and identify their exact fulfillment.

I believe Jesus told St Faustina that before He comes for the final time all lights in the heavens will be extinguished and a cross(the sign mentioned in revelations?) will appear in the sky.This prediction though a private revelation does seem rather literal. In any case I don’t see how that would be bad considering how fast our morality is degenerating.

It’s in the Bible…

29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the** sun be darkened**, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: Matthew 24

No, it’s not bad.
But in every approved appearance of Our Lady, she calls for repentance.
That speaks to the heart of all prophesy. repentance and a return to God.

Yes and Jesus told ST Faustina we are living in a time of mercy.If we do not accept His mercy and repent then we must pass through His judgment.

Interestingly, if you google it, there have quite a few people that seen ‘crosses’ in the sky, from all over the world too…I wonder what these are?
 
Weird things seem to be developing…maybe I’m just paranoid though:)

I don’t think so, no mention of three days there.
Also in Mt it seems to be the end of time, St Faustina’s appears not so.
