It’s my time machine so I make the rules. One of which is not interfering. No shooting Hitler or buying shares in Apple. You can only observe.
The Doctor: “We are observers only.
That’s the one rule I’ve always stuck to in all my travels.
I never get involved in the affairs of other peoples or planets.”

[The Doctor leaves the Tardis to go help a crying child sitting alone on a bench.]

Amy: “So this is how it works, Doctor?
You never interfere with the affairs of other peoples or planets,
unless there are children crying.”

~ The Doctor and Amy Pond in “The Beast Below”

And now a transgender Doctor. I’m surprised no-one has complained in the Morals section yet ('Another liberal, far right, secular, media attempt to force acceptance of immoral sexuality!).

There was a very small thread in the Clubhouse about the reveal. No one was really shocked or upset about it being a woman – time lords have already been shown to be a species that can change gender (the Master to Missy, and general somebody in “Hell Bent”).

But there were still some comments about liberal agendas based on the scripts that we’ve already seen. In general though, people who like Doctor Who know that the show’s not going to be teaching Catholic theology. 😉 😃

I’ve always had a good giggle at watching supposed naturalists defend alternative gender identities.

Sorry if this is derailing the thread.

It’s not off-topic. Suppose the brain develops differently in male and female, then presumably a female brain in a male body and vice verse produces gender dysphoria. If that happens in some people for genetic reasons, the proportion of transgender people should remain fairly constant. There’s a song which predicts exactly that. But as the historical proportion is pure guess work, time travel would let us test that prediction.

Reminds me of a science fiction series I plan on writing some day. A young history/physics major takes part in an experiment for tachyon amplification that accidentally slingshots him back to the time of the Roman Empire. Given the inability to age and an inhuman healing factor as a result of the experiment, he makes up his mind to wait it out until the 21st century to prevent himself from ever having gone through the ‘Slingshot.’ He also must deal with a fanatic cult called the Sons Of Tithonus, the reach of which stretches throughout the centuries and is dedicated to destroying ‘the man who walks eternity.’
