I think this rumor maybe tied into the fact that Jay Leno did the show from Burbank and Jimmy Fallon will be doing the show from New York.
Definitely. The people who worked for Leno’s show have lives, families, houses, etc. in California, and don’t want to pick up and move to NYC! Would you want to make that move?!

They had plenty of time to find new employment, and many of them probably DID find new employment, since they have “The Tonight Show” on their resume!

And those who didn’t find new employment possibly decided to retire, even as Leno did.

Remember, too, that Leno is staying involved with stand-up comedy, and it’s possible that he hired some of the Tonight Show alum to be part of his crew.

I’m too young to remember his hey-day, but I’ve seen enough tape to know that STEVE ALLEN is one of the funniest men who ever entertained on television!!

I loved Johnny Carson!

I LOVED Jay Leno! He is one of the great ones in Hollywood–generous with his money, and hard-working to the extreme. Married to the same woman for many many years! And I agree about his cars–wow!

And I LOOOOOVVVEEEE Jimmy Fallon! I have followed him since he was first on Saturday Night Live. The snake skin slacks skit is one my favorites! And his ability to do impressions of musicians is amazing–he’s a good musician, and I think that will add a lot of dimension to Tonight Show. I also think that he’s good at interviewing people–other SNL cast members say that Fallon honestly loves meeting and talking to people.

I also love Arsenio Hall, BTW, although his new show is not well-written at all. Arsenio, IMO, is the best of the interviewers–he honestly seems to care for his guests.

And I used to love Conan O’Brien when he had Andy Richter working with him, but once that pairing ended, I didn’t really care for O’Brien. He’s a little bizarre without a “normal” like Richter around. He is a good good writer, though.

The one late-night host that I really can’t stand is David Letterman. It’s like watching a gawky 13-year-old boy going through hormonal changes who just drank a 2-liter of Mountain Dew. Letterman’s mother was awesome, though! And I do like the Top Ten List.

My husband and I love watching late night TV, and I look forward to the Fallon years. He’s really talented.

You are right, I would definitely not want to move to NYC from SoCal!! Who would want to give up perfect weather year round for cold and snow? LOL

I wouldnt count Leno out just yet, remember this all took place with Conan too, I have a feeling if Falloons ratings drop as much as Conans did with the Tonight Show, Leno will be back.

New York has a lot to offer that makes up for the unmitigated horror of four seasons. 😉

Apparently one reason NBC could force Leno out now is that he doesn’t have the clout or audience anymore to threaten them by going to another network. That’s what I read in the papers anyway.

I don’t think network television has the clout or audience anymore.

I was always a Dick Cavett fan…will never forget Jimi Hendrix playing the Star Spangled Banner with his teeth! lying on the floor. Oh my. Dick was just so cool.

I’ve only watched Leno a few times, and never a whole show. Once the guests start coming on, I am rarely interested in any of the current crop.

Im the same, I really only tune in to hear Lenos monologue and the first couple ‘skits’, and unless I really like the guests, I tune out and go to sleep before the first guest.

I used to watch Carson and then Leno, and Conan and Fallon with great regularity, back when I was addicted to Hollywood celebrity, and broadcast network television did not enrage me for its gross immorality. I have changed since then. I stopped watching Conan when he moved to cable, then I lost interest in Fallon for all his support of liberal causes since his SNL days. Then Leno was the last to go, and I’ll tell you why. I found other stuff on TV. For a while I put up with the disgusting American Dad because it was kind of funny. Then I found MeTV and I never looked back. MeTV has a ton of golden-oldie TV programming back from the days when Hollywood observed a slightly more respectable moral code. I really like The Untouchables and Star Trek and The Fugitive and things like that on MeTV. It’s a great thing to fall asleep to a program that will not disturb my concupiscence. I am done with Hollywood, it is just a question of weaning myself off all the hot young stars that I’ve come to like over the years. MeTV is a good consolation prize while I’m still craving some mindless entertainment.
And a shout out to LUCAS AND MARK MCCAIN!
