12 The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ. 13 Some of us are Jews, some are Gentiles,[e] some are slaves, and some are free. But we have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit.[f]

14 Yes, the body has many different parts, not just one part. 15 If the foot says, “I am not a part of the body because I am not a hand,” that does not make it any less a part of the body. 16 And if the ear says, “I am not part of the body because I am not an eye,” would that make it any less a part of the body? 17 If the whole body were an eye, how would you hear? Or if your whole body were an ear, how would you smell anything?

18 But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where he wants it. 19 How strange a body would be if it had only one part! 20 Yes, there are many parts, but only one body. 21 The eye can never say to the hand, “I don’t need you.” The head can’t say to the feet, “I don’t need you.”

1 Corinthians 12:12-21

Rule Number one of the previous biblical passage:

Jesus Christ has many parts that make one whole body just like our humans parts make one whole body. In other words, Jesus Christ is many parts that make one whole body which means that he is more than one person.

17 For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

2 Corinthians 3:17

Rule number two of the previous biblical passage:

The Lord God is the Holy Spirit.

30 The Father and I are one.”

John 10:30

Rule number three of the previous biblical passage:

God and Jesus are one person. In other words, Jesus and God are two person’s in one. Jesus is God and God is Jesus.

2 Attending him were mighty seraphim, each having six wings. With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew. 3 They were calling out to each other,

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Heaven’s Armies!
The whole earth is filled with his glory!”

Isaiah 6:2-3

8 Each of these living beings had six wings, and their wings were covered all over with eyes, inside and out. Day after day and night after night they keep on saying,

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty—
the one who always was, who is, and who is still to come.”

Revelation 4:8

In conclusion:

Lord the Almighty is three times Saint. He is three times Saint becuase he is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. That is why his creatures or seraphim were saying that he was Holy, Holy, Holy three times. That is the Trinity. He is three person’s in one.

26 Then God said, “***Let us *make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.”

Genesis 1:26

Very interesting fact from previous biblical passage:

God says, “Let us” make human beings in our image. The Lord didn’t say, "I will make humans beings in ***my ***image. That means that when he was talking, he was saying that the three of them ( God, Son and holy Spirit) were going to make man. In other words, he was going to go into agreement with the other two. He was talking to the Holy Spirit and the Son. God is three persons in one.

22 Then the Lord God said, “Look, the human beings[e] have become like us, knowing both good and evil. What if they reach out, take fruit from the tree of life, and eat it? Then they will live forever!”

Genesis 3:23

Interesting fact from previous biblical passage:

The Lord God says unto himself that man has become like them. God the Almighty didn’t say, “look, the human beings have become like me.” The human beings were becoming like them. The Lord God was talking to himself like as if he was more than one person. He was not talking to his angels like most people or protestantes would say. It never says that the Lord was talking to his angels or other creations. He was talking to himself because he is God, the Son and the Holy Spirit. He is three person’s in one.**

16 Come closer, and listen to this.
From the beginning I have told you plainly what would happen.”

And now the Sovereign Lord and his Spirit
have sent me with this message.

Isaiah 48:16

Interesting fact from previous biblical passage:

The Lord Jesus has come and been sent by God the Father and the Holy Spirit.

2 until the day he was taken up to heaven after giving his chosen apostles further instructions through the Holy Spirit.

Acts: 1:2

Interesting fact about biblical passage:

Jesus Christ has the ability to teach with the Holy Spirit. He doesn’t need to pray in order to have the Holy Spirit because the Holy Spirit is within him as well as God the Almighty is.

19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations,** baptizing them in the name of the*** Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit***

Matthew 28:19

Interesting fact about biblical passage:

It mentiones to baptize in the name of the Father, son and Holy Spirit. That means that they must recieve all three of them in order to actually recieve God the Almighty.**

Rule Number one of the previous biblical passage:

Jesus Christ has many parts that make one whole body just like our humans parts make one whole body. In other words, Jesus Christ is many parts that make one whole body which means that he is more than one person.NO! Not true. Jesus is one person. He is a divine person. He is God the Son who took on a human nature.

This passage means that the the members of the church are like parts of a body. When St. Paul uses the words ‘the body of Christ’ in this context, he mean the church with Christ as its head.

17 For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

2 Corinthians 3:17

Rule number two of the previous biblical passage:

The Lord God is the Holy Spirit. ‘The Holy Spirit is God’ would be a better way to say this.

30 The Father and I are one.”

John 10:30

Rule number three of the previous biblical passage:

God and Jesus are one person.(not exactly) In other words, Jesus and God are two persons in one(not exactly). Jesus is God and God is Jesus. “Jesus is God” is true. The other things you said are not exactly correct.

Some things we know about the Trinity:
There is only One God.
In God, there are three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Each person possesses the whole divine nature.
The persons are distinct but they are not separate, they are one.
The Son took on a human nature when He was conceived in Mary’s womb by the power of the Holy Spirit. But the Son did not stop being God.
Jesus is the Son, the divine person who now also has a human nature.
Jesus is one with the Father and the Holy Spirit.

Lord the Almighty is three times Saint(Holy). He is three times Saint(Holy) because he is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. That is why his creatures or seraphim were saying that he was Holy, Holy, Holy three times. That is the Trinity. He is three persons in one(one God).
This is a good insight! I did not think of this before.

Also, in that language, to use an adjective three times meant it was the most. So they said ‘holy, holy, holy’ where in English we might say ‘holiest’ or ‘most holy’.

Thank you Claire for clarifying the OP.

When discussing the Trinity, it is important to be precise in our wording, as well as knowing what words mean (not an attack of the OP, just speaking in general terms). The two most important words that typically need to be defined when discussing the Trinity are “person” and “being”, since they clearly do not have the same meaning in relation to the Trinity as we define these words in our general language today.

Jesus is not more than one Person. God is more than one Person, however Jesus is only one Person. Jesus and the Father are not two Persons in one Person. They, and the Spirit, are three Persons, one in Being, meaning, they are of the same essence/nature/substance, and each is fully that divine nature.

I wrote a blog entry on the Trinity, and I believe that it gives a comprehensive overview of the doctrine, so I hope it helps everyone:

Thank you very much for your kind words and corrections. It’s the first time I open a thread like this and there will always be mistakes on your first try. That is what I mean to say all along while trying to explain and write the Trinity: they (father and son), and the Spirit, are three persons, one in Being, meaning, they are of the same essence/nature/substance, and each is fully that divine nature. I was just trying to help out and explain but I guess it didn’t work out that well. I have now learned from my mistakes and will not make them again because its important to know what you did wrong. Thanks again and may God bless you.

I have one last question, how can I edit my thread? All it has is the quote but I don’t see how I can edit it.

If you post something and want to change it you click on that entry and you will see a box that says “edit post”, then you click on that. But you have to do it right away. You can only edit it for 20 minutes after you post it. Then it is permanent.

I apologize if it appears I was arguing with you. I did not intend to do so. It is a very good thing to study the bible and also to explain Catholic beliefs and relate them to the bible when possible and I appreciate your enthusiasm to do that. It appears to me that you have a good understanding of Catholic doctrine.

No problem! The Trinity is always a doctrine that many have difficulty explaining, and rightly so, since we’re talking about our Eternal God. This is why, when discussing the Trinity, it’s important to be precise in the words we use, as well as the meaning of the words that we are using. 👍

Its alright, I forgive you. It wasn’t my intentions either to have responded that way for the word of God says to love at all times no matter what happens. I don’t like arguing myself or cause negative discussions. Its very rare when that occurs and it’s not my nature to do those kinds of things to begin with. Well, it looks like it’s going to be permanent for now. I wish I could have the opportunity to edit it right now because I don’t want people to be confused about it or learn the trinity in a wrong way. Right now, what I wrote has some mistakes and I would like to suggest that members of this catholic forum have an opportunity to edit their thread at all times. It would make sure that everyone recieves accurate information about their faith and allow others to learn from their mistakes like I did.
