After growing up as a Christian (to me denomination really has no relevance/unless it is a denomination that doesen’t accept Christ as God in the flesh) my whole life and at one point falling away to Buddhism for ten years, I have returned to the message of Christ and embrace him as my Lord and Savior. After really dedicating this last year to scripture readings, being a member of a Baptist church, a Lutheran church, and now debating on going through with becoming a member of the Catholic Church, isn’t the bottom line of the whole entire Holy Bible the acceptance of Jesus Christ as the savior of the world and accepting him as your personnal savior for eternal salvation? This is the message I’m getting from all three denominations I mentioned above as being members and frequenting several Catholic masses a week. Also, after owning pretty much all the different translations of the Holy Bible, I still keep getting the same message, Jesus Christ is the savior of this world, God the Father who became flesh. The silly division that man places on each denomination “My way is the only right way”. Is their really any wrong way to say Jesus Christ is the Lord and savior of this world, God in the flesh?

I don't believe their is a wrong way as long as the above message is preached. I believe the devil has a field day with these divsions and I'm quite sure he brings alot of fuel to the fire. I'm sure he really loves the false message that cults of Christianity bring to the table and all the other false religions that distract or totally ignore the true being of Christ Jesus. I'm to the point when someone asks me what denomination I am, I say I'm with Jesus. What is wrong with the Christian Community and how can we fix this division???

Hi ronin,

you are right in that the ultimate purpose of faith and the various aids to nourish it have Christ as their proper object.

I think God ordered an approach to Himself proper to man’s salvation.

We can’t have faith in Christ if a community didn’t exist from which it could flow. A community that surrounds Him since the beginning is necessary for there to be faith in Him. Faith in Him depends on knowing Him. The true face of Christ must be preserved for there to be a true faith in Christ. This is why we know a person is being lead by the Holy Spirit if they are being lead to the community that surrounds Him.

The bible as an aid to faith takes it’s proper place within the community that it testifies to. It, in of it’self cannot offer the true faith.
Acts ch 8
*29 And the Spirit said to Philip: Go near, and join thyself to this chariot. 30 And Philip running thither, heard him reading the prophet Isaias. And he said: Thinkest thou that thou understandest what thou readest? *
*31 Who said: And how can I, unless some man shew me? *
Notice the approach? Christ is found in the midst of the Scriptures because scriptures are a testimony of the community that Christ is found in the midst of.

For a true message can only flow from a true faith that can only be preserved by the community that is true to Him since the beginning.

Any way that leads to Christ isn’t wrong but if it does lead to Christ it is because there is a community that surrounds and preserves Him trully.

Jesus Christ is the savior of this world, God the Father who became flesh.

Hi Ed,
I don’t know what the other Christian faiths have taught you, but we Catholics do not believe that Jesus is God the Father, Jesus is God the Son, who is eternally begotten of the Father. It is God the Son who became flesh and is now known as Jesus.
God love you,
Paul

The Catholic Church doesn’t teach this truth (The trinity is all God, who manifested himself in the three forms/still all God) ? I said Jesus was God in the Flesh. What do you mean we Catholics? Shouldn’t it be we Christians? After all didn’t the term Christian exist before Catholic? Are you trying to scare me away from becoming a Catholic? You guys do have a nice play on words, but it is the same. Manifestation of God in the three forms (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, still all God). So Jesus is a separate god from God the Father??? Well, peace be with you Paul and please clarify same for me. This may change my mind about being Catholic.

Hi Ed,
I was responding to your statement that Jesus is God the Father become flesh. Your response indicates that that is not what you intended to say. No problem, this stuff is tricky to talk about.

Yes, Jesus is a separate and distinct person from God the Father. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are indeed one being we call God, but they are distinct persons, not merely different “manifestations” or forms of one person.

It is the nature of the One Living God to exist as a family of three persons, known to us as The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit, These are three actual persons, not just manifestations. That is why Jesus was not praying to Himself when He prayed to The Father. That is also why God refers to Himself in the plural in Genesis (“Let us create man in our image and likeness”.)

It is the nature of human beings to exist as one person comprising one being. It is the nature of God to exist as three persons comprising one being.

God love you,
Paul

Just to reiterate what PaulDupre said,

Yes, Catholics will agree that when Jesus was on earth, He was God in the Flesh. However in the OP, you said that “Jesus Christ is the savior of the world, God the Father who became flesh”. This is not correct if you believe in the Trinity. Jesus, the Son, is not the Father. Yes, they are all God, but they are not all the same Person. God the Son Incarnated on earth, not God the Father or God the Holy Spirit. This is not a unique Catholic belief, but is standard Trinitarian belief.

Thank you for the clarification gentleman. But to the question at hand, if we all as Christians, accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, aren’t we all saved regardless of what “MAN-Made” denomination we are apart of? Isn’t that really what the grace of God intended? When the bible says the true church, isn’t this any church that embraces this biblical truth? I guess I get frustrated how everyone thinks their church is the way to Heaven. I had a friend ask me some very interesting questions about denominations:
  1. What religion is God?
  2. What denomination is God?
  3. Was Jesus a Christian?
The questions are so simple, yet cause you to think.

My answers were,

God doesn’t have a religion, just requirements for man to meet.

God has no denomination, just requirements on how to meet his expectations.

Jesus was jewish, not a Christian.

I guess what I’m trying to say is why all the division with denominations, as long as God’s requirements per the Holy Scripture are meet. I’m sure the devil has a field day with all the division in the Christian world today. The question I have is, “Why do we even entertain him with this pickering”? We need to be united for Christ.

What is wrong with the Christian community is that a bunch of individuals though they knew better than the Catholic Church and started a rebellion whose divisions can be seen to this day (how many thousands of Protestant “denominations” are there?). The way it can be fixed is for Protestants to overcome their pride and personal opinions, look at the facts, and return to the Catholic Church.

And don’t call the Catholic Church a “denomination”. We are the original True Church from which all “denominations” schismed from.

While it is true about accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior, you also need to know what it entails.

You sound quite naïve (no offense intended) if you think that the different denominations believe the same things, do the same things.

If you believe in Jesus then you may want to know how to live as one (who believe) and what his instructions are and his legacies to live that life. There are a few things what we call outward signs of inward graces that Jesus left behind for the good of his believers so that they may be good recipients of this goodness.

If you are a good rich father, would you not leave something behind for your children so that they may live a reasonably good life after you are gone? As children, why would you not make use of the riches that your father had bestowed upon you?

Do you know that there are many believers today who are Christians but refused to recognize what Jesus had left behind for them. They thought that as long as you believe then that’s all to it. Frankly, if that is so, much what’s in the Bible is unnecessary. Do you think the Bible is unnecessary? Of course not but that’s how it is if we have forgotten what Jesus has left behind for us.

Fortunately the Catholic Church has kept all of these and until today they are still the same as when they were two thousand years ago. By not acknowledging these, you will be missing something that is so good, so precious that’s meant for you as his children.

So now you know why we keep on bickering here because we just don’t agree.

Yes, but it is not enough. You have under estimate the power of Satan and the world. All the things that Jesus wanted us to do and to practice have purpose of their own.
I believe the devil has a field day with these divsions and I’m quite sure he brings alot of fuel to the fire. I’m sure he really loves the false message that cults of Christianity bring to the table and all the other false religions that distract or totally ignore the true being of Christ Jesus.
Exactly.

Come back to one and true Church, maybe? 😉

Ed, what you describe is not the unity Jesus prayed for. A pious desire for and knowledge of it’s necessity, along with a situation that looks more and more uchangeable, makes it tempting to apply principles exclusive to the relationship God has with individuals to the relationship God has with His Church. Those things you said are true but true for individuals, those because of no fault of their own were not in communion with the Church.
May the Lord continue blessing you.
