The Truth about God

This entire discussion reminds me of Douglas Adams’ discussion of a strange creature in Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy:
The Babel fish is small, yellow and leech-like, and probably the oddest thing in the Universe. It feeds on brainwave energy recieved not from its own carrier but from those around it. It absorbs all unconscious mental frequencies from this brainwave energy to nourish itself with. The practical upshot of this is that if you stick a Babel fish in your ear you can instantly understand anything said to you in any language.
Now it is such a bizarrely improbable coincidence that anything so mind-bogglingly useful could have evolved purely by chance that some thinkers have chosen to see it as a final and clinching proof of the non-existence of God. The argument goes like this:
“I refuse to prove that I exist,” says God, “for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing.”
“But,” says Man, “the Babel fish is a dead giveaway, isn’t it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguments, you don’t. Q.E.D.”
“Oh dear,” says God, “I hadn’t thought of that,” and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic.
“Oh that was easy,” says Man, and for an encore goes on to prove that black is white and gets himself killed at the next zebra crossing.

I see the differences in the words so you like words so do I. You said a very mean thing to me if that is not anger I don’t know what you would qualify as anger just because we are on line doesn’t mean the tone of words can’t come across and words do have emotion .
Jesus uses the word healed or healing and forgiveness as interchangeable as I will look for verses for that later.
Yes the words sound the same but are spelled diff. in your poem.
Words can bring comfort, healing and forgiveness.
There are spirits behind words even though people capitalize the letters and it makes them sound angry but a threat in word form or you may say a curse as it sounded like you are trying to convey .
You must be of that mind that thinks sticks and stones can break my bones but words can never hurt me. Is this right / see I am running along with you on this OK? I’m aslo running out of room on this post. dessert
Words are a deadly poison. In them we take offence or satisfaction. Let words have no power over you, friend, and they will not have power over you; rather, have power over words. Choose the words that are going to help you and give those words power. The words that hurt you. Disregard them. Give them no power and they will not hurt you. Words got you the wound and words will heal you if you believe in them. A lesson in life.

You have never sinned??? Yes or No ???
It depends. If sin be a curse upon my soul then I will rationalize the sin, using it for meat for my bones and stepping stones, saying, that I have sinned but in sin their is knowledge–that I have experience to tell right from wrong. For how does one see the light if they do not know the darkness. I will not have my sin be a strike against me; but I will say that in my sin, I have attained knowledge that I would not have attained if I had not sinned. If you label me, you negate me. By calling me a sinner, I have lost stature for my soul; but if I can say that by being a sinner, I have gained stature for my soul, then and only then am I a sinner.

So you’ll admit you’ve sinned only if it’s to your advantage? How convenient. I suppose that’s why you chose not to admit you’ve sinned in our earlier debate on this thread: It wouldn’t have been very convenient for you then. What a coincidence.

So that’s how you choose to live? Dodging responsibility for all that is a bother or that’s negative, only taking responsability for helpful things that are in your favor? I feel sad for you. The only way that you can gain “stature for your soul” is by first admitting that you have personally lost that stature…by admitting that you are a sinner, in no good sense of the word–by admitting that you have committed sinful deeds that have been in no way helpful to you in themselves, even if God may bring some good of it (by helping you grow and learn from it, etc.). Once you admit that you are a sinner, without trying to make it sound like a good thing on your part, and only once you admit this on the inside, can you really begin to be healed. Then just come home (spirituallly) to the Church and trust what Christ has revealed to His Church, and you can put your old heretical days behind you. That will be more likely to increase the stature of your soul.

You have an inconsistent logic by definition (as are most “if it’s convenient then A is true” type arguments), and I wonder more and more how much even you really believe this messed up ethic, or if you just want to believe it because it’s convenient. Until and unless you begin to make an effort to make more consistent and sensible arguments, ones that do not only seek to uphold personal convenience, I don’t know that we can ever get anywhere. Until that time comes, I’ll be praying for you, and I’m sure you’re in the prayers of others as well.

That’s just word magic. Childs play. I was doing that when I was a kid. You can’t teach a man with the infinite perception to perceive things he has alreday perceived. The man who seas the infinite in oll things sees God. And I here with my ears. I word hear the of God. But no one else does. But merely in their own finite perception. I’m always altering my opinions because the man who doesn’t alter his opinions breeds reptiles of the mind.
:hmmm: You must be great fun at the dinner table; ie
See my liscence plate, pass the fork on the rode and get me a cheese patti duke. :ehh:

Here is the word of God is Spirit and Truth. who is He he said does thou know then?
Who do you say He is?
Yes He is infinite beyond measure.
That is why we do not rely on our own understanding.
God’s wisdom is more valuable than gold?
She is a tree of life to those who grasp her and he is happy who holds her fast.

:hmmm: :tsktsk: What do you guys think doesn’t he owe me an appology for threatening to destroy my faith?

Do you think his confession is valid? dessert

It would be nice of him, but at least no harm is done to you in the end; your faith is stronger than his attack, so we thank God for that! As I said earlier, I think we need to pray for him, whatever his motives are. That seems the only thing left to do, unless this conversation actually starts going somewhere.
