Someone’s hedging their bets, it seems. I hate to sound like a jerk, but this is the sort of mess that happens when you emphasize/make up out of whole cloth some sort of “connection” between Christians and Muslims just because Muslims claim to love Jesus, His mother, etc. You can’t be Christian and Muslim at the same time. You can’t be in union with Rome and not in union with Rome at the same time. What a sad, confused mess.
Hi dzheremi!

I started a Blog group (FYI to all, still looking to increase our membership 🙂 )
and this is what I wrote as a description of my faith:

"To one who has faith, no explanation is necessary. To one without faith, no explanation is possible.
This world is both evil and beautiful

it is the people who make it evil and the earth which is beautiful.

how can believers live in the world? the short answer is ‘we can’t.’
but then straight to heaven? well we can’t do that either.
all we can do is be a good person and accept we are weak. but with Satan telling Gentiles to say this to us and we say likewise, what does being a good person mean?

it is loyalty to God in the face of Idolatry, and in this new age, self-worship.
the gentiles say ‘no one has the answer’ but that’s just not true, Jesus did and does. He knew exactly what He was saying. He knew Justice better than any Gentile today, He knew Humanity, compassion and mercy. the World is full of lies and liars, so how can we hope for anything good?
there is nothing but a bleakness in the west now as we rob ourselves of God traded in on Gentile science that we know deep down, does not fulfil us.

we brothers and sisters are stuck between worlds, this one of evil and one of the hereafter a paradise where only the nicest of people are allowed, so then how is it an evil man may enter? he may not. all you can do is forgive your brethren and hope they see the face of God.

you are surrounded by lies but do not know it, a lie in your heart of hate is perhaps Satan showing you up to our Father in Heaven. the Word liberates and frees.

I am told am too preachy, GOOD! then am I a good servant that went to the rooftop and was not silent?. the world is evil around every corner and in most every home Satan lurks, waiting wanting you to hate. why? because God is Love. he is no competition to God and he knows it, but to us fellow humans…

is every path a path to God? no.
but do we choose which is right and which is wrong. no. Jesus is the path. but how can then Jews be saved? but some will as in revelation. what about Muslims? they too have a chance, because how many times greater a servant is than a pig (gentile), so then let the saints sort out the wicked from the righteous, because even though I am Catholic, I believe in the Apostolic Churches. Jude and Bartholomew, Andrew, Thomas, Phillip, James the Just, Mark, Barnabas. These too live on from the first times of the apostles, so if I deny them I say ‘oh the Holy spirit has not worked’ and what kind of a being can Judge the work of God? what creation can judge his Creator?"

Don’t be so quick with that statement, I’ve seen muslim women wearing their hijab and wearing skin tight jeans and loads of makeup. Modest indeed
I love that sight(Muslim ladies covering their heads yet wearing a lot of cosmetics; it is a bit inconsistent(not to mention that many of them seem to be very pretty anyway; then again, I may be biased). However, why do not, for instance, men have to always wear long sleeves(I do, but I am a little odd.)? Also, I am sure that a black burqa can make one can very hot in an arid summer. I intend to become a religious priest, so I will obviously be accustomed to perpetually warm attire(for instance, if I become a Servite, I shall frequently be wearing 3 layers of black clothing- namely a tunic, a wool scapular, and a cowl); however, why should girls be subjected or even encouraged to completely cover their bodies like a leper in past centuries(so that only their eyes can be seen; in a sense, disfiguring themselves)?

Hi (name removed by moderator)!

they are in order of Devotion,

isn’t it true that some Christians identify with Judisim?

Firstly I am a Roman Catholic, born and bred. Secondly I believe in the Apostolic Thrones of the founding Apostles in the Orthodox Churches,

…thirdly I believe that God fulfilled his promise to make Ishmael a ‘Great Nation’…but no more than some Christians identify with being Jewish. I identify with Islam, because of Jesus, and I believe the noble Qur’an to be God’s poetry, spirit of His promise but without the substance of literal truth. a poem.

Dava

please, if you would like read the parable of the ten virgins, and suggested~ remember one of those virgins is the Holy Catholic Church, but who are the others?
You can’t be both Catholic and Muslim. Muslims do not believe that Jesus is God.

Hi Maria

I do believe you, but when going out do you think “is this something Mother Mary would wear”? I think that is the core of the discussion.

Muslim women do think this, the Jilbab is based on what Mother Mary wears.

when I said ‘OLD’ Catholic I meant a cardigan and long skirt and oh I just remembered, a head scarf.

that’s not too bad or too far away is it?

peace

This is getting way off topic, but I don’t think Muslim women wear anything because Mary wore it. They wear it because Muslim men make them cover up.

Styles change, and just because women wore long flowing robes to the floor 2,000 years ago, doesn’t mean they should now. Kind of impractical when driving a car (as I have to do to go to work).

You have no idea what I wear, and I don’t see how you think you can prescribe my clothing for me. You made you the fashion police?

The Iliad is a great poem also. So what? Does that make it the word of God?

Mohammed’s tie with the Bible goes something like this: “The Old Testament prophets were rejected by the people of Israel; the Jews reject me; ergo, I must be one of God’s prophets!” Many posters on this forum have rejected me; does that make me one of God’s prophets too?

Hi sedonaman!

and the Church Fathers leaned heavily upon greek wisdom.

I believe that God fulfilled His promise to Ishmael.

I am Catholic. I was born into a Catholic Family, although my father was protestant, but sadly died shortly after my birth. I was baptized in a chapel, received my first communion when I was 8, and later was confirmed at 11, at mass we say the Constantinople Creed.

when I was about 26 (I’m 34 now) I look back at myself as a bitter Catholic, I had the arrogance that only Catholics went to heaven, but I was starting to doubt, and this is when, I believe, the Holy Spirit started to teach me not to hate. I was ignorant of other religions, I thought all in the middle east worshipped some other god and where, without knowing, lumped into Hindusim, then I believe He started to teach me, not to hate what I did not know. I still believe Hinduisim to be a form of satan worship, but Islam no, I believe they are fellow servants, and were even promised a Nation by God.

I am Catholic.

“We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth, of all that is.
seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,
eternally begotten from the Father, God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being of The Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
He suffered, died, and was buried.
He descended in hell, for the redemption of our sins and
On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father,
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look forward to the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come, world without end. Amen.”

perhaps I did not put enough emphasis upon identification, but then again, I want to honor The Holy Spirit and not be ashamed of Him teaching me.

so I will defend our Cousins, because many many, do not know they can be Holy, if a Gentile can enter heaven, how is it a Muslim may not? and what about those other Virgins? will only Catholics and Orthodox enter? if a question of Catholic vs Orthodox, is God testing us, that if we hate our brothers we are not worthy? WHY DID GOD preserve the thrones of those Apostles for 2000 years if they were to perish? I see too many similarities in Orthodoxy and Catholicism for my Orthodox brothers to be going to hell. although I do not honor all Orthodoxy, only the ones who are approved to me by God in their Throne.

the talk of ‘schism’ is the Catholic Virgin trying to scare the other Virgins in to uniting as ONE church, and she is completely right to do so.

and The Pope is infallible in ecumenical meditation.

I realize I have not directly answered your post, but then what about the scribes of Jeremiah’s time, and How the Jews interpret/translate Isaiah differently than Christians.
are we all tested in Faith?

Did you know that the ‘Magi’ were the Zoroastrian priests, Who WE venerate as Saints, but they are of another religion.

I have went on a bit here lol sorry.

I know this was in response to Sedonaman’s post, but I can’t resist replying.

Speaking for myself, I know it is not my place to say who is going to heaven or not. That is for God to decide. Can someone enter if they do not believe in Jesus as the Son of God? I personally do not want to take a chance with eternity. I do believe, and I pray for the conversion of those who do not, because I want to see them be saved, too. Many religions (I would not say all) have some good in them, but I do not believe that one is as good as another. What I don’t understand is why you think Hinduism is of the devil, but Islam is not. How much do you really know about Islam? Do you not realize they deny that Jesus is God, deny He was crucified, and that He rose from the dead? The Muslims say they honor Jesus, but how can you “honor” Him if you deny that He is God? And, by the way, I have seen elsewhere on the Internet where Muslims have said some nasty things about Jesus. I do not believe in their “honor.”

As for the Magi, how do you know they did not become believers in Christ? They came to worship Him. I don’t know of any definitive history we have of them after they went home.

Did you know that the ‘Magi’ were the Zoroastrian priests, Who WE venerate as Saints, but they are of another religion.

Yes, they were apparently Zoroastrian astrologers, but they discovered the truth when visiting the Christ Child. Why hold someone’s previous, mistaken beliefs against him. Would you still call St. Paul a murderous blasphemer after all that he did in the name of the Lord Jesus(even to the point of martyrdom)?

Hi Maria

thank you for forgiving me 🙂

on the second post, …I was reading the Old Testament for the first time, and after a long time searching and asking God, I found I was not as nice as I thought I was, with thoughts like ‘my grandparents will go to hell for being protestant’, I was having a crisis of faith (I think that’s what it’s called), and I was researching what it was I was hating, I had no idea about Islam, if it’s okay I’ll tell you a story…

so I had watched some documentaries on Channel 4 (uk) and had found out there devotion to Jesus (nods) as a Prophet but this was not what I was used to, this wasn’t Catholic, but i was keeping a very open mind, and I was at a friend-at-the-time’s house and we were watching a documentary about the Iraq war, it was very long 2 hrs but I was enjoying seeing it from ‘their’ perspective, it showed the nice places in iraq before the bombing, but later it showed after the bombing, there was an old women digging through the rubble of her former home looking for dead relatives and every so often she would look up to the sky and say “God Bless them”, I said to my friends “she’s saying that because of Jesus (that he taught this)” and my friends at the time said "it’s probably mis-translated she is probably saying “curse them” " I thought about it and I can still today say honestly I cannot think of anyone I know who would do the same (perhaps my aunt in a town of 50,000) this changed me, I am not a believer in Islam, I believe in Catholicism, but sometimes just sometimes they hold to Jesus’ words better than even us. did you
know they do not have mortgages because of Jesus and their whole financial system is based on ‘neither a lender or a borrower be’? as for the devil, ‘Money is the root of ALL evil.’ please how then can they be of the devil if they are not evil, you have seen what happened to the banks here… borrowing without the intention of paying back, isn’t that a good description of stealing?

(please imagine the rest said passionately, not angrily)

I was saying Muslim as seriously as you might say Jewish, we are very in the middle of the two faiths as Christians, and as head of the Christian faith Catholics even more so.

A Muslim is not my brother, but I will defend him or her with every word God gives me that they are my Cousins, Isaac and Ishmael are brothers, I have seen that many love Jesus, Do I think Muhammad was a liar? no, I think Gabriel appeared to him, and told him a set of rules from God, based on the Nation that was promised to Ishmael and Abraham.

can I reconcile the differences?.. why try? I am a Catholic sure in my faith! but if God writes poetry, I believe he would of wrote the Qur’an. Spirit without substance, a poem is an ‘emotional’ truth, not literal.

I have read half of the Noble Qur’an, they say some nasty thing in there about Christians, mind you we (The Catholic Church) did some nasty things to the Jews, they still have it as part of their service that we massacred them.

But they also say some nice things about Christians too, did you know that Muhammad was a Christian?

God and Sophia forgive me, I think I am jealous, that they have many and in my town I see so few who care.

I do not ‘practice the Qur’an’ but I identify with those, I think, are like me, in the sense they are serious about Jesus’ word and love Mother Mary, they do not take a mortgage* and do not go on about how it is perfectly natural to breast-feed in front of me, it is not as I am a male adult. liberal satan.

sorry none of that was aimed at you, Maria 😦 I just got as little annoyed sorry

I am sorry to intervene, but my curiosity is based on your complicated stance towards the religions you mentioned. It is also obvious that you are trying to bring up something for a debate by showing your bias side for Ishmael. If you are a true Catholic you should be able to identify which is the truth and you know very well that we Catholics are devouted to follow all the teachings in the Holy Bible.

We do not believe that Ishmael is the favored one of God, and you know that. God promised that he will also give him descendants that will make him great. Besides, I don’t think Muslims really come from Ishmael. Why don’t you try to study more about Muhammed. Catholics will stand for the truth, nothing else. We can not accept dictated by someone like Muhammed who contradicts the Gospels.

Catholics already have everything to believe and was proven by the Son who happens to have the Holy Spirit of God. Believing in Jesus Christ is believing in the resurrection, and redemption for those who believe and follows. Without Jesus Christ redeeming death and resurrection we will die the same as those whose bodies in the past are corrupted when they die. The Kingdom of God can only be accessed by those who follows the truth, the Way, and the Life.

You might still be confused on why God sent His Son.

Also, please do not base your faith on humanity but the divinity of the Church. This means that whatever humanity does, the Church will always be Divine.

Hello. Do not worry; I never attack ad hominem! Yes, there is a sort of messianic prophecy among Zoroastrians, who are dualists and, thus, are slightly related to the Gnostics and later Manicheans. However, Zoroastrianism is not truly monotheistic(except for one notable sect that is now apparently extinct). The common religion in Persia at the time was Mithraism. Either way, the Magi seem to have been court astrologers. Being involved in astrology would explain why the Star of Bethlehem initially so fascinated them.

Hi David, peace and blessings to you and yours,
Interesting post, i realise it is directed to Sr Maria, please both of you forgive me if i am rude in quoting it.

I like your simple loving stance towards the religions you mentioned. It is also possible that you are trying to bring up some caring for a discussion by showing your bias side for Jesus (pbwh) in understanding descendants of Ishmael (pbuh). If you are a true Catholic you should be able to identify in religions which is the truth and you may know that Catholics are devoted to follow all the teachings of Jesus (pbwh) and you show this in your attitude of seeking goodness in others.

Catholics do not believe that Ishmael (pbuh) is the favoured one of God, and you seem to recognise that a promise was made and followers of Jesus (pbwh) submit to His way. God promised that he will also give him descendants that will make him great. I don’t think all Muslims really come from Ishmael (pbuh) as not all Catholics come from Isaac (pbuh). It is good try to study more about Mohamed (pbuh)(pbuh), be wary of TV documentaries IME they do vary and some have real bias. Catholics will stand for the truth, and so much more it is seen in their love and patience in openly seeking understanding of others. Catholics can not accept what contradicts the Gospels but are patient and loving helping people who are confused in that that contradicts.

The Kingdom of God can only be accessed by His judgement through Jesus (pbwh) not men who confuse judgement and discernment.

You dont seem confused on why God sent His Son but show you are really seeking to live the way.

For me, and i respect it is different for you Muslims are my Brothers by choice we share the same for father in faith Abraham (pbuh). Even A brother away from the truth is in hope Our Brother and i am to be open to treat them as such for their return to Our Father.

Bless you, may your faith continue to grow in love.

Hi Steven, quoting here my post seems odd and I do not understand your point. It seems you really want to teach how we have to love our neighbors unconditionally. The thing is, I think you miss the point of this forum. This forum is about discussion. When a non-catholic insist on something other what the scriptures teaches, I am sorry that it might be corrected, otherwise it will a bad information for anyone who is seeking the truth.

Your style of debate is kind of offensive actually to anyone who posts. So refrain from this and try to get to the point. Irking posters by their own post is not a good way to tell them that their post is wrong. Being a Catholic, we love our neighbors first and foremost but you have to be practical if some point when getting into a group whose intention is to discuss what is wrong and what is right. Their is no harm done in discussion beliefs. The bottom line is we need to get to the truth.

So now you tell me.

And I thought that was the norm when people here did that. 😉
