The Two Pillars of Marriage
by Donald F Hudzinski

In 1972, I proposed to my wife in these words which are the two pillars of marriage, “Blessed are you amongst women and blessed is the fruit of your womb for it shall bear my children.”. What does it mean to bless someone? It is to set them apart from all others for a specific purpose, to consecrate them. I now handed her the wedding ring.

I had recited the Haily Mary for many a day through out the years and long understood the importance of God’s proposal to Mary. I knew that it is how a Catholic gentleman proposes to his wife. The husband is to set his wife apart just like the priest set apart the Cup of blessing and Paten consecrating them for a specific purpose. This is why these two sacraments are covenants. These to sacraments are so root in to one another that you can not separated one from the other. As one goes so does the other, contraceptive of one is contraceptive the other. As you harden the womb, you also harden the heart.

Let explain this by going back to the beginning, to the book of Genesis. The two trees in the center of the garden each bear fruit. The first tree is the womb of Eve which bore the fruit of Cain and Abel, the second tree was the womb of Mary which bore the fruit of Jesus, the fruit of everlasting life. The first had a guard which failed it, whose name was Adam, the second had a husband who guarded it and his name was Joseph. Both the woman. Mary and the new guard, Joseph are spoken of in the book of Genesis.

We must understand that the Incarnation restores marriage.

Adam and Eve’s marriage has fallen and is no longer centered on the presence that was in the garden, the Real Presence. Now the center falls to ether Adam or Eve, the battle of the sexes begins, each desiring to be the new god or goddess. This is what it means to eat of the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden.

Joseph and Mary’s marriage is restored because its center is Jesus, and He is their God.

Our culture has made this into a sport and that is how they report about it, just like any sporting event. This is precisely what Satan wants for it is what he has done from the very beginning, the Adams verses the Eves, and there is a lot of cheerleaders too. We also have experts of course, who tell us how to play.

This leads to Cain’s killing of Abel and it is why we have children killing children. Do we listen to the Word of God or to the culture? Is your marriage fallen or restored? Why have you decided to honor Satan’s plan?

Why is marriage so important, because the mass is the marriage feast of the Lamb of God. The Eucharist penetrates our hearts make us a new creation in Christ.
This liken in the domestic church to penetration of the sperm. Each child is also a new creation in Christ, and this why the husband/priest of the domestic church blesses his wife and the fruit of her womb, concentrating her and her womb for the purpose of making a new creation in Christ. This what Catholic marriage is all about. This is what the Mass is all about, setting the example, the way of the domestic church.
