The Two Witnesses and the Reunion of Christians

A countless number of Catholic mystics prophesy that toward the end of the world, there shall occur a minor apostasy and tribulation, after which will occur the reunion of Christians and a general age of peace.

I do see the reunion of Christians because of the power of suffering.

Put it this way: the modern materialistic advancements accelerate and amplify the consequences of errors.

Therefore, I see the coming minor chastisement as a vehicle through which, humanity gets a MASSIVE, HORRIFIC taste of the consequences of their errors, so as to manifest their true nature.

I see this prefigured in the vials of wrath in the Apocalypse. Initially, the supreme darkness is deceptive. Humanity is able to tell itself that there will be no consequences, neither temporal nor spiritual nor eternal, for the sins they defiantly practice: fornication, artificial birth control, divorce, abortion, euthanasia, etc. These things are seen rather as salvific and freeing. Similarly, deluded by unparalleled scientific and technological achievement, humanity is seduced into thinking they can secure utopia purely from these developments alone. This is the imagery of Revelation 13, the seduction of the beast and false prophet.

but behold, intrinsically, these lies in the end breed destruction and death, and the reason is simple: If one has not peace with God, eventually, one cannot have peace with his fellow man, who is a sinner. For if you cannot love God, who is worthy of all love, who is Infinite love Himself, how can you love your neighbor, who is a sinner, and far less than perfect.

hence, as in Babel, humanity seduces itself to cooperate in selfish ambition, to storm the gates of heaven, to build a materialistic utopia. But the end of such a lie is death: eventually, the selfish passions shall conflict, and the result is self destruction.

so the vials bring with them the consequences.

already, the consequences of the sexual revolution and abortion are beginning: abortion not only murders children, creating crisis of who will take care of parents. Abortion wounds women terribly in psychology and spirit. Divorce rends asunder families. children do not trust. The collapse of the family order breeds further moral chaos, the collapse of safety in communities, etc.

In time, the consequences shall be devastating.

The point I make, notsmart, is there are still many Christians of other traditions that seek God in sincerity. In time, as the consequences of immorality and doctrine increase and manifest themselves, they shall understand, and more and more they will see that Catholicism already knew these things. In time then, those that seek honestly shall grow closer to the Church, approaching reunion.

This is precisely what I see in the mystics prophecies that the reunion of Christians occurs after the minor apostasy and Tribulation. It is not just a prophecy of WHAT. We can see from Catholicism WHY it happens INTRINSICALLY: and it is this: again, the severe and traumatic cataclysms and horrors that come from the fruits of the errors of morals and doctrine in effect show the darknesses for what they are, hence, pointing humanity to the solution, which is the light, which, of course, in fullness, is only found in Catholicism.

consider the similar theology of Revelation 11, with the Two Witnesses. When the beast murders the Two Witnesses, they lie dead in the streets, and the world rejoices over their death, celebrating and sending gifts. This is a type of the modern apostasy, where the world finally considers itself free of the need for religion (Scritpure and Tradition). But a time comes when they stand upon their feet, and a great fear falls on those who see them. Again, the chastisement and its horrors begins to show forth the true nature of the darknesses that they considered light.

the assumption of the witnesses is then the glorious triumph of their truth, humanity rediscovering the fullness of the Gospel.

sorry for the diatribe, but I like to explain myself as best as I can.

No, according to EWTN, until I look up a few in Desmond Birch:

EWTN, Q and A, End Times/Millennium/Rapture
Approved Catholic mystics (Venerables, Blessed and Saints, approved apparitions) throw considerable light on this order, by prophesying a minor apostasy and tribulation toward the end of the world, after which will occur the reunion of Christians. Only later will the entire world fall away from Christ (the great apostasy) and the personal Antichrist arise and the Tribulation of the End occur.

Although this is not Catholic doctrine, arising as it does from private revelation, it conforms to what is occurring in our time, especially in light of Our Lady of Fátima’s promise of an “Era of Peace.” This “Triumph of the Immaculate Heart” (other saints have spoken of a social reign of Jesus Christ when Jesus will reign in the hearts of men) would seem to occur prior to the rise of the Antichrist. The optimism of the Pope for the “New Evangelization” and a “Civilization of Love” in the Third Millennium of Christianity fits here, as well. This would place us, therefore, in the period just before the events spoken of in the Catechism, that is, on the verge of the evangelization of the entire world. Other interpretations are possible, but none seem to fit the facts as well, especially when approved mystics are studied, instead of merely alleged ones.

Do you ask out of antagonism?
Do you? You made the statement and offered nothing by way of examples. I asked for them.
You don’t have hope for the reunion of Christians?
My hopes are irrelevant to this discussion. I’m simply asking for more information.
Are you an Augustinian?
No.
I get ticked at Augustinians. Negative people, they are.
🤷

So…do you have more info on these Catholic mystics who
prophesy that toward the end of the world, there shall occur a minor apostasy and tribulation, after which will occur the reunion of Christians and a general age of peace.
?

If you have researched this the way you imply that you have then you should have all kinds of good information.

Dear Spauline,

I understand you don’t agree with Augustine’s view on some matters, but cut the guy some slack. He was a pagan, he was an amazing man who was not wrong about everything he said, did or believed. I think you know that too. Getting ticked about a theology is fine, but it overlooks all the great things, just to focus on what is percieved to be such a fault. I for one don’t like some things he said, but

see above, EWTN has already done the research, including Desmond Birch.

You would not trust EWTN research?

Look, EWTN is the most orthodox Catholic TV and Radio Network in the world.

Collin Donnovan, the author of the EWTN articel I quoted above, and Desmond Birch, who did 23 years research of what is practically countless fully approved apparitions, is the person who uncovered this scenario.

Are you saying, I need to go out and study 23 years to confirm everything?

In the meantime, I need to dig out my copy of his book and give at least a few citations.

In the book, he indicates the Age of Peace is UNconditional, whereas the Minor Chastisement is conditional.

I suspect that you don’t like the scenario so you attack it.

I say no “attack” is his post, only an inquiry. ISTM that one or two examples off the top of your head would satisfy the request for more information.
Regards,

I agree, I’ll try to get to that as I am able, I don’t have the book at work. It is called Trial, Tribulation, and Triumph, by Desmond Birch.

Let us, however start with a couple off top of my head:

Fatima prophesies an era of peace. That is a big one. Perhaps, one of the strongest arguments.

There was also an apparition in the Ukraine in 1987, and from the book “Witness”, by Michael Brown, on the life of Russian Mystic Josef Terelya, Mary says, “And I shall protect you [the Ukraine] for the Coming Kingdom of God on earth, that shall last for a thousand years.” this is a paraphrase, but quite accurate.

EWTN is all well and good, but they are not the Vatican or the Pope. They can err.

If you want to discuss this with us the you need to offer specific citations from these Mystics. Just because I ask for more information does not mean that I either agree or disagree and either way you need not be so touchy about it. Frankly, your attitude so far has been the biggest drawback to this discussion. If you cop another unwarranted attitude with me in this or any other discussion, I’ll report the post to Mods and let them deal with you.

I am not the enemy here Spauline.

That’s up to you…🤷

That would certainly help…

Well, so far I haven’t seen any age of peace, so I’ll be interested to see what comes out about that.

As for the minor chastisement, I’ve heard a few things, but the apparitions that they come from are as yet unapproved by the church so I take them with some salt.
I suspect that you don’t like the scenario so you attack it.
There’s that attitude I was talking about…

I hope that in a religious discussion like this that you can and will do better or I see no reason to wade through all this unmerited vitriol to get what you claim to offer 🤷

I guess we’ll see…

Thanks Church Millitant, for that interesting post.
I assumed this mystic was in full communion, based on spauline’s assertions that he is not in conflict with catholic beliefs with his speculation.

But, how does this address Fatima? Maybe for another thread, I wonder about Fatima myself. I don’t like some things about it.

I just think I have to start a thread, or hit search for that yuckky feeling I get with some things about Fatima.

But, I still love Mary!🙂

She will help me figure this mess out.

Well…actually…He’s on the list of revelations, but nothing indicates that his is an approved private revelation. That said, he appears to be a very pious guy and to have suffered greatly (along with his now deceased wife) for his Catholic faith.

Well, now Fatima is very much an approved apparition and although we don’t have to, has been declared “worthy of belief”. The church doesn’t do that lightly. 🙂
But, I still love Mary!🙂
Me too dear friend…It’s “all her fault” that I came home to the faith. 😃
She will help me figure this mess out.
Her intercessions always work. (Look at John 2!)
