Hey all…please remember that this thread is not about which method is more reverent. Although obviously very important, there are many other threads that discuss that angle.

The purpose of this thread is to discuss the various documents, especially those from the Vatican and the national bishops’ conferences that discuss methods of reception.
OK, 👍 What do you think of the various documents, especially those from the Vatican and the national bishops’ conferences that discuss methods of reception? I think by the tongue while kneeling like Sister Maria taught me in the 3rd grade is the “best” . Now days I normally take it in the hands as outlined in the various documents, especially those from the Vatican and the national bishops’ conferences that discuss methods of reception. But I would rather prefer it on the tongue as mentioned in the the various documents, especially those from the Vatican and the national bishops’ conferences that discuss both these methods of reception. :extrahappy: Anyone else want to go to another thread? :extrahappy:

The fact that the Pope “prefers” COTT doesn’t mean that he intends to prohibit COTH. I suspect that the above comment is a bit of wishful thinking, and reading things into the article that aren’t there.
I wondered why you sounded so smart. Then I noticed your location. :extrahappy: We Texans seem to have a way of seeing the obvious wishful thinking. Of course, they could change the method tomorrow and we would of course comply. I wonder what difference people who have never seen changes think it would make? None to me at all. I am getting old, I have been around many years, I have attended Mass in Thailand, Canada, Korean, Japan, German, England,Spain, Philippines, Mexico, Italy (Yes, even in Rome!) I have been in many of our United States and seen and heard the Mass celebrated the verious ways the bishops wanted their priests to celebrate the Mass in their dioceses. I have also attended Masses by many different order priests also. I have seen many changes in the Mass. I tell you all that to tell you this: Jesus was at every Mass and I ate his flesh and drank his blood even though I might not have understood the words being spoken. The Mass is the Mass and my savior is my savior!

I thank Jesus for the Gift of the Euchurist and my Catholic faith
.:amen:

No, allowing both forms only means they are allowed.
If you actually read the citations above, it is evident that the Church clearly shows a preference between the two methods. Nobody is saying that CITH is not allowed in some countries. (Yet it’s not allowed in all countries. Didn’t you ever wonder why?)

If you (or anyone who agrees with you) can demonstrate through Church documents that the Church does not have a preference, please cite the evidence for your side of the argument, as I have for mine.

Anyone else want to go to another thread? :extrahappy:
And miss all the fun here? The documents are pretty straightforward on the matter. I am hoping this will be the first communion thread without bickering. 😛

Simply because their bishops’ conferences have not requested it. The Indult was extended to Poland by Pope Benedict XVI in early 2006 or 2007 (I’m afraid I can’t remember which) at the request of that country’s bishops).

The Church has a preference, but allows a choice.

I missed that. Which document used the word “preference.”

I was awake all last night wondering WHY???😉 Then It hit me They didn’t want people to receive it in there hands because of sanatation concerns. 😃 The way somepeople obsess over the litle things makes me wonder what Jesus is going to say when he meets the: Jesus" “You were worried about WHAT???” 😛

Lets pray for the protection of the unborn 271 children are murdered in the USA every minute! Now that is IMPORTANT!!!

God Bless

You are right, I said us Texans were smart! 👍 I agree, this thread is boring but no bickering. [Edited]

God Bless 🙂

I read this and Dubya comes to mind. You Texans think he’s smart, so we understand the Texan understanding of what being smart is. 😃

Sorry, I just couldn’t help myself. 😃

Like it or not, he IS the President of the United States. How many of his critics can say that?

Sorry, I just couldn’t help myself. 🤷

Three small things

1.Dubya made President, how dumb is that? 🙂
2. Humor is in fact an essential element in the mirth of creation. We can see how, in many matters in our lives, God wants to prod us into taking things a bit more lightly. Pope Benedict XVI :extrahappy:
  1. “You know who” will get angry that we aren’t discussing the documents of the church reference communion in the hand or on the tongue so we will have to “talk in code” like the first christians did.👍
There’s an old Texas saying “Well, butter my butt and call me a biscuit, look who thinks he knows what he is talking about!” :extrahappy: Somehow it applies! 👋

:blessyou:

Remember to pray for the 271 children murdered every minute in the USA. :signofcross: May God have mercy on OUR souls! :amen:

Nor does the Church say that they are NOT. 🤷
Alright – you guys apparently don’t want to read the citations that I provided, nor will you even provide evidence for your claims. I guess that means Texans are smarter. You win.

But that’s OK. The documents speak for themselves for anyone who is not afraid to read them.

Lepanto: Seriously, I could care less if our Church required me to stand on my head so long as I could receive the real Body and Blood of my savior.:bowdown2: And that my friend is the truth! 👋

As you said the documents speak for themselves. We can receive the Host in our hands or on our tongue. You want to fight about which is preferred by the Church. [Edited] :extrahappy:

Lets discuss which are allowed by the Church instead., Oh whit they BOTH are! 👍 Does the documents say the host should be given in the right hand or the left hand? (Trying to kep the thread alive! 🙂 )

And how does this change the facts?

I guess he was the best president money could buy at the time, but of course the bar has been set so low now, dog catcher and constable are now considered qualified for president. 😃

And thanks for taking the thread way off topic, too (in violation of forum rules).

If you can’t provide evidence for your argument – you can always change the topic! 😃

Yep, they have to make decisions.

Community organizers don’t, so why are they “qualified” ??

.

[Edited]

It is “allowed” in one church here in San Antonio, to knee at the railing and receive the host on the tongue. I went once, but it was crowded. So many of us “white hair” people there I never went again. But it brought back so many memories of my youth. That is my prefered way of receiving the Host.

As a native Texan, I would like to point out that the Bush family’s claim to “Texaness” is tenuous, at best. They are essentially one U-Haul removed from being Yankee bluebloods.
