Who says there is no hope?
Certainly not the Commission that met in Nov 2019, well after all the Orthodox issues that have you so concerned. The Commission seems to be working despite it; perhaps they know something you don’t?
AND

We are ALL waiting for an answer that they apparently don’t have…YET.

Frankly, it’s not worth it.
that’s too bad, you’d think a thread with over 2000 posts would be an interesting conversation to join.
Are you all 3, or are you ONE of them, showing your progression / history in beliefs?
I was baptized Catholic, did my communion and confirmations… got bored with church so I stopped going.

Went to some non-denominational church through my life, but slowly stopped going all together.

I never went to Catholic school, never read the CCC, so other then some childhood traditions wasn’t really raised Catholic but when, I decided to return to church lent 2019, I choose to return to a Catholic church but soon realized I disagree with some of their teachings… so I went to a bible class. When the bible class shut down in June for the summer I went in search of a different bible class which happen to be at a Lutheran church, went to their services… and have been going ever since.

I’m an active member in both churches.

hope that answers your question.

if knowing history important for this thread, then yea maybe its not for me.

Calvin? lecturing anyone on Man made legalities? Really?
Yes really. Even Augustine and Cyprian had to warn against overlording legalism on various occasions.

But agree that as many fingerpointers are concerned, including Catholic, they just may have a few fingers pointing back at them.

Lol…but so true
Main point in that analogy

I’ll just say,

Unlike Calvin,

Augustine and Cyprian didn’t leave the Church, nor cause heresy or schism with their teachings.

“We are increasingly conscious of the fact that an Orthodox Church does not really exist”…Card Kasper
Now that is an odd slam…odd because I thought they were not a church but a community per CC teaching.

I mean do you stop fishing because the big fish disappeared and now there are only two almost big fish? Does the fisherman say they are no more fish? Worthy of his time ? Come on, where is the fisherman’s spirit?

But good stuff you dig up steve.
.i mean hard work…lol…you certainly keep digging.

Kasper is acknowledging they are individual church(es). They aren’t a single Church.

AND

for clarity,

The Church officially refers to Protestant organizations as (communities).

In the spirit of things

the fisherman needs to know the difference between a snag, and a fish on the line. They aren’t the same. 😎 👍

Ok. As long as the line remains in the water. ( was gonna say bait and hook) but doesn’t sound right lol)

Lol…was trying to be simple but it is whatever you meant by “active member in both churches”…
well I follow the 5 precepts of being an active member of the Catholic church…

um actually now that you mention its not sure if the Lutheran church as specific precepts to being an active member so I’d need to look that up… but I’m as active there as I am at the Catholic church.

Ok…thank you…not sure about 5 Lutheran precepts, but maybe 5 solas lol…

Anyways welcome to the never ending and thrice resuscitated thread.

All you gotta do is read first post by lanman and chime right in. I think i quoted it again at post#2250.

so what I was asking you is, are you going to both Catholic and Lutheran churches?
yes ever Sunday… and its cool sometimes when the priest both preach from the same Holy scripture.

I think we talked about this before on another thread.

Just curious,

what specifically encourages you to do double duty on Sunday?
