Over the last several days, a series of new revelations have confirmed our worst suspicions that a group of career bureaucrats and Obama administration officials brazenly conspired to undermine the president of the United States.

Of course they did. When Sally Yates, Joe Biden, James Comey and Barack Obama (and who knows who else) meet in the White House to discuss digging up dirt against an appointee of the next administration, it does sort of have a conspiratorial aspect to it.

No particular reason to expect Comey to have been competent in all of that. Apparently Yates didn’t think he was. He was hardly responsible for getting Trump elected (Hillary excuse # 843). He really thought he put his thumb on the scale on both sides and come out a J. Edgar Hoover, manipulating whoever was elected. Now he might go to jail, and sure deserves it.

I’m no expert at this sort of thing, but he really seemed to want to be J. Edgar Hoover. Hoover had intel on every politician of any importance and more or less had them all “blackmailed”; not for money as far as I know, but for influence. He literally could tell politicians what to do, and did. It always seemed to me Comey was after power. I’m not sure he cared who was elected, he just wanted to be the power behind the throne no matter who was elected. Just because he didn’t make any criminal referral on Hillary or her people, it doesn’t mean he didn’t have “the goods” on one or more of them. I think Rosenstein was right when he wrote Trump and told him the FBI was a mess and couldn’t recover as long as Comey was at the head of it.

Well, we can’t expect him to write a column about it. But his actions certainly do make it seem so. He was trying to manipulate both Trump and Clinton, and then manipulated Rosenstein and the whole country with his demand for an independent counsel. And it just happened to be his old pal Mueller who handed him millions of dollars worth of government contracts when Comey worked for Lockheed Martin and Mueller was the head of the FBI.

But he wasn’t as smart as he thought he was. First he backed Clinton. Then he stabbed her in the back trying to win favor with Trump. Then he switched sides again. And then when Trump was elected, he really thought he could cozy up to Trump with the “scoop” on the dirty dossier and the “confidential” assurance that he, Comey, didn’t believe it. I guess he thought Trump would never know he had sworn to its believability and participated in getting search warrants out on Carter Page. And his “note taking” when talking to Trump. I guess he thought he could control him somehow if Trump said something compromising.

Just a rat, in my book.

Think about it. I think he wavered because he thought different ones would win at different times as the polls and prognostications differed. When Trump won, he had only one to please and/or try to dominate, so he tried to do both with Trump. He simultaneously tried to be ingratiating while trying to get something compromising.

He was trying to be Hoover, but failed miserably. He just wasn’t as clever as Hoover.
 
It’s actually not, not in the most literal sense of the word. The deep state is just the mass of unelected permanent government bureaucrats that stay employed as elected officials come and go.
 
Old news, yet nothing offered showing a positive reason for voting for 4 more years of this mess!
