The vast majority of our lives will be spent in eternity (e.g. Heaven), so why will we have reproductive systems?

Earthly life is but a spec for the eternity we were meant for in union with God. That is the Christian perspective. Yet in Heaven, we will not be married, as Christ says. Presumably, there will not be sex, either, or reproduction. Is this a fair assumption?

So what is the point of gender, especially biologically, in Heaven? Why would we need a reproductive system or sexual difference if the vast span of our life (in eternity) will have no need for it?

I understand this to be the case generally, especially on Earth.

But will we be creating new life in the New Heaven and Earth?

If so, it will have to be in some form different from marriage… and therefore different from monogamy?

The purpose of sex organs is obvious. If there was no afterlife and you just died you could still ask the same question. If we are all going to be dead for most of Eternity than why have gender? Obviously, it is for this life, and for procreation. God only knows what Eternity brings.

Even in our human life, we “behave sexually” only a small fraction of the time; not everybody has children, and for those who do, less than half of the lifetime is devoted to raising them.

Yet we are **always **male or female; it is intrinsic to who we are.

The gender of our bodies informs everything from our voice, to our senses, to bodybuild and mind. It only makes sense that it will continue to inform our being in the spiritual body.

I know we are supposed to get our bodies back in the final act, but I always felt being a spiritual entity wouldn’t actually require them. Not in any hurry to find out either way though!

I’ve always wondered if there is race in heaven.
We will have skin, and faces, and limbs and all the rest of it, so yes, I’d say that racial distinctions would remain.

But I’d imagine that the luminousness that comes with a spiritual body (pneumatikon soma) would make racial distinctions of appearance beside the point.

No, indeed :)🙂

But you are not a “spiritual entity” per se, you are a human being, and cannot be fully you except while in your skin.

When black, white, yellow, brown etc. people get to heaven will they all turn a blue or green color?
I don’t think so. Our race or color affects our personality, so I believe we will retain this aspect but it won’t matter to anyone what we are.

If our bodies reunite with our souls like Jesus said…they should look like they did before, although, glorified!

To be honest, I’m disappointed.

Why disappointed?
When you’re marginalized your whole life because you don’t look like the majority, then you’ll know.

There are moments I resented God for making different races.

And to think that races will continue to exist…well…

When Jesus appeared to the apostles in the upper room, they all recognized Him, so He must have had the same color & features.

Yeah, I can see where you’re coming from.

God however should not be blamed for people’s bigotry.

Anyway, I doubt there will be bigotry or hatred in heaven.

There won’t be bigotry or hatred in heaven…that’s sin!

Where does it say we will have a human type gender in heaven? Our bodies will be of the spiritual type, not the human type.

They knew him by his spirit. Have you ever met someone and felt an unexplainable spiritual connection?
