The Vatican in Muslim Europe

My comment about ‘pogrom’ was in response to a comment about educating about “the wicked aspects of Islam” which seems a rather familiar theme to a Jew. The fact that we seem to have been overtaken by Muslims as the ‘bad guys’ supposedly engaged in some great world conspiracy against the Christian world doesn’t exactly fill me with relief.

I don’t think that Muslims really understand how dangerous their situation could become. I’m a European and wouldn’t want to be anything other than a European but Europe has a history of dealing with minorities in not pleasant ways.

I understood your meaning. While I don’t think your fears are entirely unfounded, I think that the reverse is far more likely at this point in time. Christianity is growing continually weaker in Europe and Christians are not reproducing. The opposite is true for Muslims.
I’m a European and wouldn’t want to be anything other than a European but Europe has a history of dealing with minorities in not pleasant ways.

As do practically all societies that have minorities among them, including Muslim societies. Thus my dhimmi comment.

I don’t accept the argument about birth rates but I don’t have time to follow it through again (Shabbat approaches).
As do practically all societies that have minorities among them, including Muslim societies. Thus my dhimmi comment.

What will happen if and when Muslims overtake Italy? Look to Constantinople (Istanbul) for coming attractions.
  • Churches converted to mosques
  • Christians kidnapped and/or murdered
  • Christians terrorized and forced to live in fear
  • Seminaries closed and Priests forbidden to be ordained
  • Travel into the country by foreign Clergy forbidden
  • Christians extorted for ‘protection money’
  • and more!

These are all very provocative statements. Aside from a pig reference that I think was due more to cultural ignorance than hatred, I didn’t see anything in this thread up until that point that justified them. Perhaps I missed it.

It is possible to acknowledge and worry about the violence that is coming out of Muslim nations without being hateful or racist.It is possible to criticise Islam and speculate that it is the source of said violence.However, nothing you said or could have said even remotely justified that response.

And I think you are the first here to recognize my name. 😃

Perhaps I’ll look up some of your previous posts then. I would like to see something hopeful about Europe’s future. But numbers are only part of the picture. As a whole the faith and strength of convictions of European Christians seems to be waning. And the secular hedonism that is replacing it certainly has no will to fight.

You have a point there. But the Armenians, Kurds and Sudanese are no less dead. Also, more efficient murder isn’t necessarily worse murder. The guillotine is far more efficient than crucifixion.

Solutions? There are many. The first and foremost is prayer and penance! We must pray and do penance to be able to do anything. Second, we must also evangelize, both non-Catholics and those Catholics who were never taught the Faith or have lost the Faith. Third, there needs to be a serious look at the immigration laws of Europe.

Well, it is obvious what European Christians, ex-Christians, and post-Christians should do if they want to prevent being demographically marginalized by non-European and European Muslims:
  1. Have far more children and raise them as Christians;
  2. Admit far larger numbers of Christian non-Europeans as immigrants, even from Africa and Asia;
  3. in tandem with (2), limit immigration of Muslims (though it would be unjust to prevent Muslim immigrants from bringing their own family members to live with them);
  4. help Muslim-majority countries to address the problems that drive their people to emigrate (ironically, admitting Turkey to the EU inasmuch as it improves the Turkish standard of living might reduce the number of Turks emigrating from Turkey).
The greatest enemy of Christianity is secularism, which has become more than just the property of an intellectual elite. The presence of devout Muslims should be taken as a challenge for Christians to become more devout and more concerned with struggling against secularism. To make common cause with secularist xenophobes against Muslims is not something Christians should be doing.

As for the Vatican’s future safety in a putative “Eurabia,” Italy is experiencing a kind of Catholic revival – generalizations about European secularization no longer apply as much to that country as in the recent past.

In any case, what we should be seeking is an authentic revival of Christian commitment, not a “re-Christianization” that is just really just a cover for xenophobia, hypernationalism, and racism.

if they so dare attack Rome or the holy father then mecca should and will be a Christian football field!
perhaps a return to stakes for heretics?

I admire your passion, but what about freedom of religion?
 
freedom of religion? this is a two way street. until they leave Christians alone and stop butchering them this should not be a privilege they deserve. they need a lesson in freedom of religion! and perhaps its time that we Christians and we catholics Roman and loyal eastern rite and loyal get rid of this enlightenment nonsense!

Hi

Please don’t be angree, we all have to coexist in this world alongwith many denominations/faiths/religions/agnostics. Not all Muslims are violent. For instance we Ahmadis are very peaceful people, we believe in arguments and dialogue, at least make some room for us. Have a little patience.
