The overall assumption seems to be that this would be a men’s team…?

True, I’ve never heard of a women’s football team, but they must exist. And, I think that might be just the thing to make those 0-0 ties a bit more interesting.

I think it’s a safe assumption since they are talking about a team…
that could play on the same level as Roma, Inter Milan and Sampdoria," all first division teams
However, they could also create a women’s team…The Flying Nuns, of course. 😃

I could see this for a hockey team…You could paint all the sticks to look like rulers…

Ouch! My knuckles ache like they’ve just been rapped, and I didn’t even go to Catholic school.

It was more of a glide than flying, so it would not be a problem on the ice…and, of course she was whacking them with a yard stick - a hockey stick would hurt even worse!

Playing and Praying for a Better World
THAT IS SO COOL!

Here in Chicago, Auxilarry Bishop Paprocki is an avid hockey goalie (he just started playing in an organized men’s league about 10 years ago from what I understand) and is nicknamed “The Holy Goalie” and was featured in USA Hockey magazine:

He also practiced with the Chicago Blackhawks:

Additionally, Bishop Jerome Listecki in Wisconsin used to play goalie from what I understand.

Great link! I remember reading that article. My son plays, so we get the print issues. It brings new meaning to the cheer “Holy Moly, What a Goalie!”

This could be a bad thing… Some folks out there will accuse us of one more unscriptural, tradition of men or accuse the Vatican of trying to build a one world sport to deceive the nations and call it Babylonian football on the seven hills. I’m certain someone will figure out that the quarterback’s name works out to 666. They’ll accuse us of using indulgences to reduce fouls, gain yardage and noveas to increase time outs and better player performace. We might be accused of witchcraft when an injured player makes a miraculous recovery after receiving the Anointing of the Sick.

Maybe we should rethink this…😛
