The veil and other things

I don’t really know what you call it, but I don’t see churches using veil for the tabernacle, and other pieces for the altar and the stand for the Gospel.

Back in my country, we change all those three with different colors set on the Calendar.
 
My parish uses all these appropriate altar linens. But I belong to an extraordinary parish. 😉

We change our decor in conjunction with the liturgical calendar at our parish too. I don’t know what all the pieces are called, but there are colored hangings on either side of the crucifix behind the altar, under and around the tabernacle (also behind the altar) and colored additions to the altar cloth that correspond to the correct seasonal liturgical colors.

ahh, “Altar linens”; thanks lizaanne! I really like to see that at my parish, but sometimes I don’t know if I should give my opinions. I will try. 🙂

We don’t have a veil for our tabernacle (except the one for the tabernacle we use for the altar of repose during the Triduum) and we don’t as a rule use a frontal on the ambo or the altar. We don’t use a burse nor a ciborium veil, those 2 articles would be the only colored things on the altar, IIRC.
 
Some tabernacles aren’t meant to be veiled. Our parish has one that is about three feet wide and three feet high, with elaborate doors. There are linen “curtains” inside, but it is not meant to be covered.

This is the parish church where I did most of my growing up. Note that it also does not have veiling. It looks more as if it is a vault.
 
Does the church give any specific material to be used by church linen?
