A 1000 years ago people read Revalations. Wasn’t it addressed to them as well?
Yes, just because a text isn’t fully open to you yet doesn’t mean that it isn’t entirly not for you.

Hmm, the end… when He shall come on clouds…

How do you think it will happen?
When?

FIN
I don’t know and I don’t care, what I do know and do care about that my concern is the state of my soul at this moment and every moment of my life, so that I may be ready with my lamp trimmed when He does call me.

As much as I love speculating on this (hey it’s fun), as well as what will happen. I think this what is stated here is truely the best framework for actually living your life. 👍

Zundrah, the End can come suddenly and surprisingly for anyone at any time. One day, it will come for all living humans at the same time, but before Christ comes in glory and separates the righteous from the wicked, what we need to think about is that the end of each of our lives can come any time and suddenly all we have in the world will be reduced to nothing. Then all there is is our souls and God. Nothing else. We take nothing with us into the world but ourselves, and we will leave it with nothing more. Therefore everything we have right now in the world is like dust, passing, and since it will soon be gone and might disappear at any time, there is nothing better for us to do with it than use it all for God.

The End for me might be a car crash or sickness or old age or any number of things. The End for humanity as a whole seems like it will be an incredibly dramatic event, considering what the Book of Revelation and the Epistles of Peter have to say about it. But the end of each life is a dramatic event. It may not always appear so to outsiders, but I would say that to the person experiencing it, it certainly will be dramatic!

Anyway, everything is passing and when we die we have nothing but our souls, until the resurrection of the body. Jesus said, “What profits a man to gain the whole world and give up his soul? And what can he give in exchange for his soul?” He was looking from an eternal perspective, because in the end, the soul is all we’ve got. We have a choice whether to glorify ourselves in our souls by attaching ourselves as a slave to material things, or to glorify God in our souls by attaching ourselves as slaves to eternal things. If we bind ourselves to what perishes, we will perish, but if we bind ourselves to what endures, we shall endure. I look forward to these heavenly possessions, riches God begins to pour out on us here on Earth through the transformation of our souls in humble submission, love, generosity, discipline, and all the virtues that pour out of God’s Spirit and will remain with us forever if we live in Him.

I’m 50/50 on the idea. Of course I like the idea of being here to (?) be caught up and meet the lord (?) when he comes for the second and final time. But of course getting to that point means enduring the anti-christ to the end. So one the one hand you have the applealing aspects of being there to meet christ, on the other the rather unappealing aspect of having to “endure to the end” the persecutions of the anit-christ which well… would be at least as bad (I gather) as what the early Christians endured.
I don’t mind being persecuted at all…
Is it fair to say the Old Testament is/was “for the Jews”?
Is it fair to say it wasn’t (perhaps still isn’t to current Jews) them?
What denomination are you? 🤷
