Because Herod killed his kids there, God knows how many others were killed there, and he killed John the Baptist and Jesus Christ.
No matter what kind of Herod lived there, it was done.
I appreciate the answers but no one is explaining King Herod’s murderous ways which mingle with this so called “holy wall”.
His children were murdered behind this wall…just don’t get it…it must be me.
The Jewish people do not “worship” the wall itself. What they are trying to do is get closest to the Holy of Holies. The wall itself is the only gathering place where Jewish people CAN get near where the Holy of Holies was, since they cannot pray in the mosque which is ON the temple mount. When Solomon built the first temple, God declared that anyone who prayed toward the temple woud be be heard. This is what they are trying to do.
