The Way International - anyone know about them?

Years ago I had a very good work friend who was active in this group theway.info/index.htm . She and her husband eventually left their jobs to become full time missionaries for them and live in New Orleans, this was about 12 years ago. About 15 years ago she tried to get me to join, and I attended several meetings and even went to their headquarters in Ohio for a weekend. I never felt quite right in these situations, something just gave me the heebie-jeebies. (This was before I was fully received into the Catholic Church)

Anyway - I think of her often and wonder what might have become of her, and if they are really as bad as I’ve read on the Internet: uia.net/~messiah7/cultsthe.htm

If anyone knows anything about this group I’d love to know more.

My brother is in this group. He is the coordinator for the state of Montana and has been in the group since the late 1980’s. They are group which believes in such things as, Sola Scriptura, Denial of the Divinity of Christ, God doesn’t hear the prayers of those who do not give at least 10% of their post tax income, (the expectation to have prayers answered doesn’t begin until “abundant sharing” has occurred which is 11-14%), Sola Fide, and Once saved, always saved.

From what I have seen in my brother I don’t think it is a cult, but they definitely are a group who does not have the fullness of Truth. They have a genuine love for God and we need to remind them that we as Catholics do as well, and don’t be afraid to ask charitable questions that will cause the Holy Spirit to work in them.
