Guest
Today’s scripture was of the King who invited guests to his wedding, they didn’t show up, and they killed his messengers, so he went to the crossroads of life and invited all and sundry to share his joy.
When the wedding hall was full, he entered and found a guest without a wedding gown. The guest was bound, tied and thrown outside, in the dark, where all was anguish and the gnashing of teeth.
That’s what I remember of the gospel today.
After Mass I went outside and waited for the Priest to deal with a family he was talking to, when he turned to me I asked if he had a minute.
Of course he did, so we wandered away a little; this is the only chance I ever have of talking to clergy, living in the country as I do, with only Francis’ twitter feed and prayer as daily consolation.
I said to him, a young man, ‘do you know that today’s parable wasn’t meant for us, don’t you?’
I gently tugged at the sleeve of his white robe, ‘it was meant for you, you’re the one wearing a wedding gown.’
Parables have many interpretations, mysteries are forever to be wondered at.
Thanks for reading this far.
I used to come here years ago, with this story and that, if it’s ok I’ll resume the habit.
all the best
