The "witnesses"

Today some Jehova “witniness” came to my door. They were Japanese and so there was a language difficulty at first but as soon I knew who they were I tried to help them. I warned them that their religion, and the rejection of Jesus as GOD, was very dangerous. They asked me if I had ever read the bible and they wanted to pull quotes but I was actually ready. I had a printout of the information here from Catholic Answers that I translated into Japanese. They wanted to quote the bible and I showed them already on the printout the quote and the response from Catholic Answers. That stunned them and they wanted to get away. I tried to give them the printout but they wouldn’t take it. They kept saying that Jesus was just a teacher only. I asked them who was their pastor so I could go and speak with him but they wouldn’t tell me. Nor would they give me their names at this point. They kept asking if I had ever read the bible and so I told them that I had and had indeed read the ENTIRE thing including Tobit and Machabees. The younger of the two women at that point just walked away and was calling to the older woman to come along. The older stayed to try to bring up another quote but when I again pointed it out on the paper I was trying to give them and the other quotes from scripture, she again was left with no words. At that she too started to just walk away and I was there following trying to give them the paper but alas she wouldn’t take it.

They didn’t go to another apartment, instead they just got in their car and left.

So, what should I have done to help them more? I don’t speak Japanese very well. I could have come out to them with an English or Latin bible but they wouldn’t understand. What more could I have done? I didn’t want them to walk away, I wanted to help them.
 
You’re not going to change their minds in one visit.

The MOST you can do is to plant seeds that will eventually pull them away from their organization.

However, you DID do the right thing, which was to take control of the conversation, instead of letting them run it.

One thing JW’s are schooled in is to automatically refuse “apostate literature”–which means anything that disagrees with them.

What is more fun is to show them how their own publications contradict each other.

Example: In March of 1972, in the Watchtower’s lead article “They shal know that a prophet was among them”, it says that JWs are prophets.

In the book REASONG TOGETHER FROM THE SCRIPTURES, it says that JWs are NOT prophets.

Question: When did the organization lie to them?
 
JW’s are very hard to reason with. When they come to my door I alway try to give them tracts but they always refuse them. It is like they are not allowed to read anyone elses material but their own
If you want them to leave quickly just tell them that before you will talk about the Bible you want to pray and ask for God’s guidence. Works everytime
 
Don’t be surprised they didn’t take your printout, they’re not suppossed to accept literature from other religions.
 
Wow, I really didn’t know all of that. I knew what the JVVs believed but I had no idea about their opperating procedure. Sounds to me like ‘get them brianwashed and keep them that way’. Man it really does seem hipocritical of them to ask me to take stuff but they won’t take mine. I will still pray for them though. If anyone can help them it is Jesus.

That’s true, and if you tell them you’re not supposed to read Witness literature, they’ll tell you that your leaders have no right to tell you what you can’t read.
 
That is correct, they will not accept anything to read. Also they are told that people like you will tell them lies to lead them away from the JWs. In addition they are taught that, without you knowing it, you are working for the Devil. Their situation is very similar to the old “Iron Curtain” that cut off Russia from the rest of the world, nothing goes in and nothing goes out.
