Crimson Silence, the harshest comments aimed at others that I’ve seen in this thread are yours. Keep in mind that perhaps you are also giving a bad impression of those whom you represent.

You are my representatives to Catholicism. If you come off as aggressive or cruel or malignant in any way towards me; that leads me to think that all Catholics are like that; especially since other Catholics who read this don’t say anything. So I am within my rights to judge Catholicism based on the experience I get from people who practice; in contrast to someone who goes either once a month or not at all. The priest doesn’t sit down and talk to me; he does the mass and leaves. The laity don’t talk to me, they attend the mass and leave. We have confession; we have prayers; but there is no talking.

So I’m left to the internet. You are my representatives to Catholicism. How you act towards me reflects on what I think of the Church as a whole; I’m the one struggling in faith, not any of you. And I really doubt that the Church would miss or even care about one more potential Catholic family who is no longer Catholic.
oh please., “you are my representatives to Catholicism”. Were you a convert? Where’s your sponsor? Are you a cradle Catholic? Where’s your parents? You say you can’t possibly find your priest. What kind of message are you leaving…“so and so wants you to call him?”
You call, you say: I need to make an appointment with a priest. Someone in the office is authorized to book an appointment for you.
I just don’t believe that NO ONE AT ALL will give you the time of day.
And if that is true, how did THAT happen?
And if your parish is indeed that lousy (I seriously doubt it) then find another parish.
If you thought you had cancer, you wouldn’t call for an appt. and then say, well, they didn’t give me the time I wanted, so forget it.
If you really believe none of us are not struggling with faith, than you should heed the advice. Because, in your words, we’re not struggling.
And AGAIN…I don’t believe anyone has really been ugly to you.
Your responses have been very immature.
You say you’ve enjoyed the humor.
You think leaving the faith is funny?
Really?
Something is very wrong.
Dislike us all you want to. But find a priest.
No excuses. Find a priest.

LOL. Everyone in this thread needs to calm down a little bit. We are all friends here. 🙂

I love the “we’re not representatives of Catholicism” stuff.

Baloney. As a member of any religion, fair or not, you ARE a representative of that faith. Especially as seen by someone who comes to you to ask for advice. Stay classy.

I do want to point out though that on message boards regardless of topic (excepting very technical forums) the long-term residents will tend to be more “hardcore” in their views as they relate to the board’s subject matter.
