Someone once told me that the CC believed this woman was Mary. That was never taught?

Oh, sorry.

I thought you meant the uh, other woman… “whore”

The woman has been traditionally understood to be Our Lady yes. She represents the Church.

Who does the CC say that she is?
From my Catholic Bible:
Douay Rheims Bible Commentary:

“A woman”… The church of God. It may also, by allusion, be applied to our blessed Lady. The church is clothed with the sun, that is, with Christ: she hath the moon, that is, the changeable things of the world, under her feet: and the twelve stars with which she is crowned, are the twelve apostles: she is in labour and pain, whilst she brings forth her children, and Christ in them, in the midst of afflictions and persecutions."

This is the same woman (the Church and Mary, both whose spouse is the Holy Spirit) prophecied in Genesis, the mother of Jesus Christ in the Gospal of Luke and John, and prophecied in the Apocalyse:

“I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel.” Genesis 3:15

“And Mary said: My soul doth magnify the Lord. And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. Because he hath regarded the humility of his handmaid; for behold from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. ** Because he that is mighty, hath done great things to me; and holy is his name.** And his mercy is from generation unto generations, to them that fear him. He hath shewed might in his arm: he hath scattered the proud in the conceit of their heart. He hath put down the mighty from their seat, and hath exalted the humble. He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away. He hath received Israel his servant, being mindful of his mercy: As he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his seed for ever.” Luke 1:46-51

The Prophecy of Simeon:
“And thy own soul a sword shall pierce, that, out of many hearts, thoughts may be revealed.” Luke 2:35

“His mother saith to the waiters: Whatsoever he shall say to you, do ye.” John 2:5

“When Jesus therefore had seen his mother and the disciple standing whom he loved, he saith to his mother: Woman, behold thy son. 27 After that, he saith to the disciple: Behold thy mother. And from that hour, the disciple took her to his own.” John 19:26

" And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with an iron rod: and her son was taken up to God, and to his throne." Apocalypse 12:5

Her son is Jesus Christ. The Prophecy is both regarding the Church, the Bride of Christ, and by allusion Mary. Keep in mind the prophecies in Sacred Scripture made directly to Mary and directly from Mary that “a sword that will pierce your own soul” and how “all generations will call me blessed”. “Woman Behold your Son,” and to the disciple, “Behold your mother.” This thread of thought is through the Old Covenant and the New Covenant, starting in Genesis and ending in Revelations.

God Bless

PS The Catholic Church has a relationship to Jesus Christ as the Body of Christ. He is the Head of the Body. The members (us) have God as our Father and Jesus Christ as our Brother and the Blessed Mother is our mother and the Love of the Holy Spirit unites us as One.
