Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Today is the Solemnity of the Holy Body and Blood of Christ, and the title of this thread is from Jesus’ “Bread of Life Discourse” in John’s Gospel. St. Louis gathered 60 “utterances” of Jesus in Chapter 12 of his book, “The Love of Eternal Wisdom”. Jesus is Eternal Wisdom and is our Way, our Truth and our Life. We have now pondered 33 of those precious utterances from the Gospels.

As He feeds us today from His Word and His Eucharist may He grant us an increase in the Gifts of the Holy Spirit we received in Baptism, especially Wisdom. May we receive Him with Mary’s Heart, as St. Louis suggests in “True devotion to the Blessed Virgin” : “…Implore Mary to lend you her heart so that you may receive her Son with her dispositions…” (paragraph 266, #4.)

Today’s “utterances” of Jesus from St. Louis De Montfort’s Chapter 12 in “The Love of Eternal Wisdom”:
    1. Evil thoughts which come from the heart make a person unclean: but eating with unwashed hands does not make a person unclean. (Mt. 15:19).
    2. A good man draws only what is good from his store of goodness; but the wicked man can only draw what is evil from his store. (Mt. 12:35).
    1. No one is worthy of the kingdom of God, if, after putting his hand to the plough, he looks behind him. (Lk. 9:62).
      29. Every hair of your head is counted; so never fear, you are worth more than many sparrows. (Lk. 12:7).
    2. God did not send his son into the world to judge and condemn the world, but that he might save the world. (Jn. 3:17).
    1. Every man who does evil avoids the light; he is afraid his evil deeds will be exposed. (Jn. 3:20).
    2. God is a spirit and those who adore him must do so in spirit and in truth. (Jn. 4:24).
    3. It is the spirit that gives life to everything; the flesh has nothing to offer. The words I have spoken to you are words of life. (Jn. 6:63).
Mary, Mother of the Church pray for us that we may receive Jesus with your heart, today!

Dear Greenfields,

Thanks so much for your “heart” – as I’ve mentioned before, it is an encouragement for me to keep writing when others let me know they are reading and being able to appreciate the Word of God as shared by St. Louis de Monfort.

The Words of Jesus today are especially important for He has continued to feed us both from His Word and His Eucharist and yet how many of us receive both or either one with the right dispositions. I was reading the long version of the Sequence for today’s Mass written by St. Thomas Aquinas I believe – someone please correct me if I’m wrong – I just checked to be sure:
St. Thomas Aquinas wrote the liturgy for “Corpus Christi” when Pope Urban IV added the Solemnity to the universal Church’s liturgical calendar in 1264. He provided a great sequence, one of the great poems chanted or recited before the proclamation of the Gospel… (noted in article on Catholic Exchange)
I was so struck by these 2 verses - I wondered if I ever heard or read them before – (there is also a shorter version that may be all I heard in the past):
Bad and good the feast are sharing,
Of what divers
dooms preparing,
Endless death, or endless life.

Life to these, to those damnation,
See how like participation
Is with unlike issues rife…
Let us pray, as Mary told the children at Fatima for poor sinners who have no one to pray for them. I was thinking of persons who may have been told by their Bishops of the intrinsic evil of abortion but who continue to believe they are right and the Church is wrong in her teaching and will receive Communion today. God help them to “see” their error, by Faith in Him Who gives Life, may all realize each life is precious and especially the defenseless babies in the wombs of their mothers.

Dear patricius,

Thanks so much for your “heart” to let us know you “liked” the post. More importantly, thanks for appreciating the writing of St. Louis de Montfort and for being attentive to the “utterances” of Jesus as St. Louis continues to help us learn more from “The Love of Eternal Wisdom”.
