The WORLD Needs Chrisitian Unity! NOW!!!

I hope this is the place to put this thread. If not, please move it to where it should be.

In a world that is being more and more Secular, and less Chrisitian. We (All Chrisitans) Must work Together. The Church, and (I feel) All Of Christendom is under attack. Look at the spread of secularism, abortion, homosexuality, the culture of death, and the rest of our enemies. This is all coming from that same despised enemy. We can’t afford to let our guard down while we are fighting such a large scale spiritual war. There are many people out there doing a great job fighting for everything that is right. But this war could be won sooner if we did something more, I feel like the victories we gain today, are just skirmishes. We need to win decisive battles! Our victory is gaurunteed, so what or who are we afriad of?

“Of Whom Should I be Afraid?” ( This is from The Scriptures.). ( I believe it is from one of The Psalms.).

I have complete confidence in Our Lord Our God, and In Our Lady. I am Trusting that Our Lady will always lead us to victory in the battles we face. We all KNOW (and *SHOULD KNOW *) How important Our Lady is to all of us. She Helps her children here on earth, and works to crush the head of the snake. " Our Lady, O Heavenly Queen, I Am Extremely Thankful I am not Your enemy! " 😃 " Thank You, O Lord! "

I am with you, Angel. We need to find ways to overcome our divisions, in order to work together. One of my favorite hymns is, “The Church’s One Foundation”, by Samuel Stone.
The entire hymn speaks to your post,

The church’s one foundation

We are seeing the culmination of all that revolts against the Lord, His commandments, and His Son Who gave us the only true way to peace and love.

When all is lacerated and removed by St. Michael and His Holy Angels, we will all be one.

The Era of Peace is coming when Jesus Christ will return to the hearts of mankind.
 
The world surely does need Christian unity. The division of Christians is a scandal that harms the ability of the Church to persuade nonbelievers of the truth of the Gospel.
 
Its the same God. Why should we be fussing over the fine print?
 
How much can we say disunity among Christians has led to our downfall in the Western Hemisphere?

I was hearing a Jewish commentator speaking of what is happening to our country by an extreme minority. He said where are the Christians???

The Christians are the greatest block in our country…where are they???

The USA has the most fractured Christianity in the world…

Y’all might BEGIN by acknowledging that “Christian” encompasses all those who put Christ at the center of their beliefs, and stop trying to kick those with whom you disagree out of the fellowship. (That is a general, not a specific, ‘you.’ Kathleen! )

I personally have never kicked out one who is seeking fellowship with the catholic church. When unity is spoken of in the New Testament its means that all peoples should unite unto Christ through his church. We cannot have unity under false pretenses. Only in the truth can we unite at all. We can get along but that is different. We can never unite under a false Christ. Its black and white.
 
I also think of a hymn when the subject of Christian unity comes up:

Well, you are certainly providing a wonderful example of what I was talking about. 😉 Here the OP was wondering why all Christian groups (Catholics, Protestants, the lot) couldn’t get together, and you have just provided the reason why.

To you, only Catholics are Christians. That can cause a problem in inter-faith cooperation and ‘unity.’ 😉

Neither Catholic-rcia nor the Catholic Church teaches that only Catholics are Christians.

This implies an all-or-nothing approach, which I reject. Certainly, full unity would require a unity of doctrine, but there are other ways that Christians can show a general unity in the face of the forces of anti-Christian sentiment, secularism, and unbelief, etc.
We can witness together to people who face disaster - Haiti, for example - by pooling our resources and manpower. We can lower the tone of polemic rhetoric toward each other, and in fact defend each other when under attack. Most importantly, we can pray with and for one another that the Holy Spirit protect us, and guide us to further unity, if not now, in the Church Triumphant.

**Amen to that! I think it ought to be a DUTY of EVERY Christian to sincerely pray for Christian Unity every day! **A few weeks ago I was sitting in a hospital waiting room, waiting for my wife to get a test done. Across from me sat a middle-aged woman who saw me reading a Bible. “Are you a Christian?” she asked…and then proceded to tell me she was a born-again Christian who actually overcame cancer with the help of Jesus. I congratulated her and commended her for her great faith. Then my wife walked out, listened to her rambling on for a moment, and then said “You’re preaching to the choir, mam, my husband is full of faith and prays for my health every day!”. Then the woman asks me “Oh, are you born-again too? I used to just be a Catholic, but now I’m an evangelical!”. “Actually…” I replied “We used to be JUST protestant, but now we’re Catholic!”. This threw her for a loop, and it took a few seconds for a response. “Well, there’s only ONE Jesus, I guess” she said. “Amen to that, sister” I said, and we left.

:confused: In your search for unity you bring up the a&h issues but don’t forget the many Christians in the UCC, TEC, DoC and others who are pro-choice and in the case of at least the UCC pro gay marriage. Peace.

I am starting prayer before Mass on weekend.

But we need to find a common point besides faith in Christ to build on in a practical way.

Any suggestions how we can work for better inter-faith country –

I think there is also a reason why we are all on different levels…because the Lord wants us to focus on the witness of our true faith in Christ and to bear with one another. We are a test to faith to each other, annoyances some times, but this is our inner mountain we must over come in our climb up the Mountain of the Lord…

So we begin with prayer and attitude, let’s say…

What else can we do in our local to build Christian unity…common denominator Christ…let the theological differences go and let the Holy Spirit guide. Share meals…open our homes with no more intention than to pray the Our Father, pray for one another, pray the psalms…reflect on a current event to be aware of others sufferings…I have been thinking about this a long time.

If we American Christians would come together…not for any other sake but for pleasing God…that would be a great hurdle overcome and bring down much grace and forgiveness. I believe.
