I became skeptical of communism early on. I was not pleased with Castro’s role in the death of Che and, when Castro shot Ochoa, that was the last straw. I saw that the recipe turned the ordinary materials of life into poison. Definitely a far cry from chocolate cake.
No argument from me. As a teenager I had ideals that flowed from my natural desire for social justice. I thought Communism sounded like a good recipe for chocolate cake. When I was older, I worked with many refugees from the USSR, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, and so on. They had good jobs in Canada, but terrible stories of life behind the Iron Curtain. The difference being is that some of us (and I assume you are one) have not only read Marx, but have observed what happens when nations go communist.
As I said, it’s the parable of the chocolate cake. It doesn’t matter what the theory is, or what the recipe card says – you follow that recipe and you’ll come up with a brick, every time.
