there was this guy, who have been into theosophy…

he keeps o ninsisting that Jesus Christ is not the exact name…but

it should have been Jesus “The” Christ…i’m a bit confused…

I can’t figure out the difference…all I know is that our Lord and our God is only Jesus Christ…

‘Christ’ means ‘anointed one’ (same as Messiah). It IS a title rather than a proper name, and titles usually have a ‘the’ in front of them - ‘the’ Heavenly Father, ‘the’ Lord, ‘the’ King, ‘the’ Saviour, ‘the’ Blessed Virgin, ‘the’ Apostle Paul.

I suppose translating it into other languages your friend has a point. You wouldn’t say ‘Jesus Anointed’, or ‘Jesus Messiah’, rather you’d say ‘Jesus the anointed one’ or ‘Jesus the Messiah’.

And the movie was called ‘The Passion of THE Christ’, so it’s certainly not wrong. Still, it is creating a bit of a storm in a teacup. It is such common usage to say ‘Jesus Christ’ that it’s fine to choose it also. And it is used on many occasions - ‘the Body of Christ’, ‘the Blood of Christ’, ‘Feast of Christ the King’ and so on.

I have been believing that the only Christ is Jesus alone…but this theosophist tries to

No myth/pagan deity/historical figure has done all that Jesus did. Sometimes there are similarities, but often as not, it’s because those myths have copied Jesus.

In a sense your friend is right - we Catholics are all anointed in baptism and confirmation, so we can call ourselves ‘anointed’. But if this is meant to imply that we are all Jesus, then no.

The Catholic Church has the fullness of truth. There are elements of truth in most other religions, but are inferior to the Catholic Church.

Christianity, just like linguistics, has a strong concept of competence versus performance. Competence means we know what we should do, performance is what we should do. The Church didn’t commit the most horrible crimes, individuals did.

Split Personality disorder can oly be described and ascribed to man and not to GOD for GOD is beyond all disorders or abnormalities!

GOD IS ONE WHO IS ALL IN ALL! The ESSENCE OF GOD is the ESSENCE of all Religions!

Christianity was not even the first religion to come out in this word and yet people already knew about THE ESSENCE of GOD! *
