Well, what do you mean by “fraud”? Like they stole something?
 
there was a law suit against a priest for molestation,this person confided in me that he was an altar boy,he received 1.2 million dollars and then told me how he ripped off the church and that the priest never touched him that his friends had been misguided and he felt the church deserved to pay compensation regardless

You could contact your bishop or archbishop, but I suggest meeting them in person. You have more of a chance of being heard and understood.

If you do go, bring evidence if you can. This will put some weight behind you.

You might even be able to reprt this to the local police. This IS fraud, after all, and a lot of money is at stake.

That’s pretty much all I can advise, though.

Maybe you can write to the Vatican?

As a Protestant, thank you for recognizing that sin is sin, regardless if it may be against a Church you may personally not believe in! 👍

And secondly, that you feel something should be done. 👍

This person that confided to you may have not been truthful to you. A sexual crime victim carries much guilt, it may be easier for this individual to not acknowledge it ever happening.

But if indeed it never happened, I would not hesitate to immediately contact the associated diocese.

I have learned that some cases simply have to be heard in the courts of Heaven - and this one may be one of them. If it’s possible, I would certainly do what I could to bring the truth to light. Immeasurable damage has been done to many people in a situation like this. It’s unconscienable. But if you can’t do anything, this guy need all the prayer he can get - that he’ll repent before the judgement.

Regardless of whether or not you have evidence or “proof”, RUN DON’T WALK to the appropriate bishop. They have resources you don’t and will have better luck investigating your story thay you could. Tell them the whole story, don’t leave anything out, and make yourself available to their investigators and attorneys.

Then, go to the press. I am one of those people that really wish the innocent accused priests would just stand up and say “Prove it” instead of the diocese settling the suit in order for the “healing to start”. I am also tired of the press just publishing the bad about our priests and never the good. Make sure they print the story and, if they don’t, go to another source. The public needs to know just how many false complaints are made.

Also, PLEASE, keep in mind whenever you read a story of anyone accused of molestation in the 50s and 60s and the accusation that the Bishops just moved the priest and covered the whole thing up. It wasn’t until the 1990s that psychologists and psychiatrists discovered that pedophilia was not a treatable mental malfunction and that there was no cure. Prior to that, the Bishops, most of them anyway, sent the priest for treatment and, when they were pronounced cured by the psychologist/psychiatrist, sent to another parish. Isn’t it funny how no one is blaming the psychologists and psychiatrists? Anyway, don’t try to judge yesterdays crimes and mental illnesses with todays knowledge.

I agree. You’re liable to be dismissed as a kook or a crank unless you have verifiable evidence to back up your allegation.

I’m sorry but I still have to disagree. I work in law enforcement and we appreciate any information that can possibly lead to the conclusion of a crime. Like I said before, the Chancery has attorneys and investigators that have the knowledge and resources to get the evidence they need but if no one brings the possibility of fraud and or a false report to their attention then you could be an “accomplice after the fact” or “withholding evidence”

It would be best for you to let the Chancery know and let them do what they feel is appropriate. It is your civic duty to report a crime if you know one has been committed. The problem in law enforcement is “nobody want’s to get involved” and they don’t realize they already are involved by having the knowledge. Many don’t choose to do the right thing.
