Theologian or Priest?

I know of a few men who study/studied canon law in Rome, and I know of theologians like Hildebrand and G.K. Chesterton; and they were all married. How does one know the difference between God calling one to priesthood or God calling one to be a theologian?
 
Many priests are theologians. To rattle of some current and recent past well-known ordained theologians: Pope Benedict XVI, Henri Cardinal de Lubac, Fr. Hans Urs von Balthasar, Marc Cardinal Ouellet, Avery Cardinal Dulles, Fr. Reginald Marie Garrigou-Lagrange, Yves Cardinal Congar…
 
The best way to find out is to speak to a spiritual director. Some are called to be academics, others to ordained ministry. The only way to find out is to pray about it, and most importantly - speak to someone experienced with spiritual direction to help you discern, and trust that the Holy Spirit is speaking through that director.
