Theology of Eastern Orthodox branches

Here’s my question:
Do all EO branches hold the same theology? For instance, does the Russian Orthodox church believe the exact same things as the Greek Orthodox church, the Romanian Orthodox, or Armenian Orthodox, etc.?

Yes and No.

Yes because all Canonically Orthodox Church Jurisdictions hold the same exact Theology, Faith and Spiritual Life.
There are 16 Orthodox Patriarchates and Churches: ec-patr.org/en/links.htm
The 9 Patriarchates are: Constantinople, Alexandria, Antioch, Jerusalem, Moscow, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria and Georgia. Then there are 7 Churches also include: Cyprus, Greece, Albania, Poland, Czech-Slovakia, Finland and Estonia.

No because you have mixed Non-Canonical Orthodox groups in with Canonically Orthodox. Armenians are not actually Orthodox. Some Churches who separated themselves from Orthodoxy prior to the separation of Rome continue to use the word “Orthodox” in their name; however, they are not Orthodox.

Basically you first have to distinguish between Eastern Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox, a process made all the more confusing by the fact that “Oriental” is a Greek word meaning “Eastern”.

All Eastern Orthodox Churches hold the same theology, but we don’t necessarily agree with the Oriental Orthodox - although we do tend to have quite a bit in common.

Another way to say it is that one needs to distinguish those who accept the Council of Chalcedon from those who do not.

Minor correction, it’s a latin word meaning east.

Anatoli means east in Greek.

Don’t many Ethiopian and Oriental Orthodox consider Greek and other Orthodox, not Orthodox? I believe the Ethiopian Orthodox disagree on the nature or person of Christ.

Yes, both myself and Monica have stated that Eastern Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox are not in communion, although in North America they have quite close relations, and from what I understand they’re fairly close throughout most of the rest of the world.
