One cannot live in Heaven without existing, therefore it is proper to talk about existence in Heaven.
I cannot believe I am being this misunderstood.

I spoke about life and existence to point out the difference between eternal life in heaven and mere existence in hell.

Of course if you have eternal life, you exist. I didn’t think it necessary to point out something so blatantly obvious.

Thank you for your responses. I am still a bit undecided but I will meditate on these thoughts and pray for guidance. 🙂

Just want to say though, whenever I referred to “life”, I was talking about “mere existence”. I thought it was fairly obvious but I guess it wasn’t 🤷

It is an article of faith for all Catholics (de fide) that there is a hell and that any soul there is there for all eternity, so there is no room for indecision for a Catholic in this regard. A Catholic may (should), however, seek further understanding - through study and prayer - about the content of our faith as Christ teaches us through His Church.

  1. I understand the notion that Hell is a God-less place where a sinner may choose to go if he chooses to reject God. However, if God is the giver of life, then does this not mean that if you go to Hell, ALL of you will die. If you reject God, you reject life, so why does your soul still ‘live’ in Hell?
  2. Why is such responsibility placed on finite creatures? We have no appreciation of what our choices really mean. This is both true for Heaven and Hell.
Can anyone help out?
