There is no sin in the heart when love is the driving force

There is no sin in the heart when love is the driving force
Said a fallen sinner…🤷

Can you explain?

Are you saying that if a person thinks they are driven by love then sin does not exist? Would this happen to apply to homosexuals?

Sin can not be in the presence of agape, or selfless love. When that is the motivating factor driving your will, or heart, the heart is without sin

Example.?
How does one determine agape?

What authority do your statements come from?

If genuine love, the love of God which includes all He commands, is the driving force, then I agree, there is no sin in the heart. Be wary of imposters claiming to be this real love though, lest they mislead you. Many of our desires, feelings and emotions only masquerade as true love.

It sounds like more “sola fide, I’ve accepted Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior, therefore I am incapable of sin no matter what I do” stuff. St. Paul is greatly unimpressed with your theology, God_I_Love.

Where did you get that from, pray tell?

Agape is perfect love. So In a way you are correct. What if a certain “love” is not subordinate to a higher love of God? For example, I have a friend who is so in “love” with her boyfriend that she has had 2 kids of out wedlock with him and they live together unmarried and continue to have pre marital relations and she has told me “If two people “LOVE” each other, God understands”

So she is saying because she is in “love” God understands the reasons she continues in sin, and I am assuming that she think that means God will not hold her accountable because she is in “love” Do, you agree with her?

Do I not have enough “love” in me because I am still a sinner. I fall short of perfection everyday. So, do I lack love?

This is why I see sola fide as a lazy way to escape responsibility for one’s actions. 🤷

The OP’s statement begs the question:
If a person has love in his heart (and therefore has no sin in the OP’s view), then if he kills someone because he’s doing it out of self-giving love for another (i.e., protection), does that mean regardless that he has murdered someone he didn’t sin in the first place?

oh boy :banghead:

Christ wouldn’t have had to die if we didn’t have sin. From your perspective, sin shouldn’t exist since God has always been. The problem is there is and always will be sin until the end of time, hence why Christ died for our sins.

This is correct; no sin can come out of perfect love.
Many repliers have criticized the wrong thing about this statement–it is in no way false, only misleading. Our problem is, by our fallen nature, we do not love perfectly in all things, and thus we choose sin. Sin decreases the life of God within us, and thus we love even less, and thus we sin even more. It’s a vicious cycle that we are unable to pull ourselves out of–God must do it for us.

Keep in mind that love and sin are a matter of will. God’s love is perfect as His will is perfect. Our love is not perfect because we choose ourselves above God, which is also called a sin.
Saying we sinned is just another way of saying we did not love.
Saying we loved is just another way of saying we did not sin–a double negative.
At its extreme, sin destroys free will; total sin is just a total lack of love, which is a total lack of God, which is nothingness.
At its extreme, love perfectly fulfills free will; perfect, comprehensive love is being in perfect communion with God.
There’s one pitfall here: free will does not transcend love. Love makes free choice possible; the choice not to love makes free choice impossible. Thus free will must have come from Love just like everything else. Evil is not among these because evil is not a thing–it’s just a lack.

Take what I say with a grain of salt! These are only my thoughts; I could be completely off.

Hope this helped,
Greg

Yes, I agree; sin and love are polar opposites-mutually exclusive. To the extent that we fulfill the greatest commandments, we don’t sin. And while grace enables this possibility in us, perfect love tends to be pretty elusive in this life. Growth in this core virtue, however, is expected of believers.

everything you say is in truth, with one exception. The truth of my understanding in regards to this, and in no way is that complete (otherwise i would not be posting it for reciprocation of understanding), is not misleading. What is misleading is the fact that label bias is the blinding factor. Not my words, rather the understanding and placement of them within the visual construct

Can you answer the questions above.

And now these…

What is “label bias”?

Label bias: a need to place an entity Within a construct such as ‘‘catholic’’, ‘‘christian’’, etc. and using that construct, or label, as the sole determinant for whether you agree or disagree with a person on (x, y, and z)

your disconnect is that you assume when the word ‘‘love’’ is used that I mean a carnal understanding and expression of that. That is not love but lust. I am referring to the unification of spirit’s through the divine essence of Love uniting us all, as Christ prayed, in one. The fullness thereof being the Omega. Love must be given freely by the soul to another and then reciprocated in order for a mutual unification. The seeking and expression of that need and desire of the spirit to be one with another is inborn. The perusal of that, when enlightened by God, is the highest work one can do for it is in that (love one another) that we accomplish the work of God, through belief in Christ.

Sin is an error in love. Vainglory is too much love of self. Greed and envy are too much love of money/things. Lust and gluttony are too much love of pleasure, and so on.
