I visited a cathedral some years back and they did renovations. The usual, remove everything to paint. The new Christ they purchased for thousands of dollars was literally, fried eggs where the 5 wounds would be, mounted on metal things that looked like railway rails.
I don’t know who ordered this modern piece of artwork but it seems like enemies of the church have taken charge of decisions. At some point it was removed and another one purchased that actually looked like a man on a crucifix. What a bunch of stress and upset to the faithful and a huge money grab by someone. The faithful have been through a lot over the last 50 years by their own shepherds.
That crucifix looks like a man on a cross. I call it a win.
