There's something really wrong here

The point I was trying to make, has seemingly been missed by some. As I said… my friend’s sister only passed away yesterday. I don’t happen to have a Mass card, available just now. But that doesn’t mean I will not send one to her, later.

When my mother passed away in June, I received BOTH Sympathy cards and Mass cards (yes, from the same people… spaced out. The Sympathy cards arrived first, followed weeks later by Mass cards). It appears that an assumption has been made, that I opted not to send a Mass card. I simply haven’t had a chance to do that, yet.

The point I was trying to make… that some of you, understood… is that there was a plentitude of ANIMAL Sympathy cards… while there were ZERO “Sister” cards.

While all of us do love our pets… they are not human. I find it odd… that there was such a representation of animal cards… but nothing, for “Sister”.
I get what you are saying and agree. I think people in our society go way overboard with animals. The poster who commented that there is such an uproar over animal cruelty but the slaughter of unborn babies is permitted was spot on.

For sure I didn’t need any “reminders” that a parent had just died, but a little spiritual support would have been nice.

.
That’s my point. I need spiritual support when someone dies which is contrary to putting ‘Loss of a Blank’

Next time, perhaps try a Christian or Catholic book store or card shop.

I went to get a Sympathy card for a dear friend, whose older sister passed away, yesterday.

In browsing through the cards… I found 2-3 variations… of Condolence cards… for loss of a dog or cat. That is 2-3 different styles for each of those animals.

But I could not find a single card that said “Loss of Sister” on it! So, I had to get a generic Sympathy card and write a special notation, acknowledging her sisters passing.

Does anyone else find this odd? Don’t get me wrong. I love animals. I’ve had a lot of dogs and cats over the years… and I was sad, when they died. But still, they were "animals’. They are not in the same category with human beings… who are made in the Image and Likeness of God.

I just find it disturbing that more “animal” sympathy cards are available (at least, in this store) than human sympathy cards! Yeah… I plan on e-mailing the corporate office about this!
Oh my it’s so insulting to human race. What a disgrace.
One I was aboard USA, I noticed the veneration of animals. What a pagan practice. They have cats and dogs medical insurance plan at some work. And some who believe in Jesus are also into that worship.

Us have misbalanced teaching in church in general. Too much focus on you know what. And not much in discernment. Thank to EWTN.

Pope Francis thanks you and pray for us.

I don’t have a dog or a cat, but it’s a bit extreme to think that small animal veterinarians are the mark of the devil. There is a positive correlation between those who treat animals well and those who treat vulnerable people well, actually, and between those who treat animals as objects and those who treat people as objects. I can understand why employers would pay for pet medical insurance, because people who have pets probably don’t miss work as often. It’s pretty cheap stress reduction, and the heart-softening influence of a pet makes some people a lot easier to live with.

It is OK to be kind to God’s creatures and to see treating them humanely as a worthy pursuit. The silly way that people make believe that their pets want to be treated like small children is kind of pathetic, the adoration people put onto their pets can amount to a sort of self-worship, too, but getting pets shots and addressing diseases that make them suffer really does not amount to idolatry. 🤷

By medical insurance for pets, I mean. That we let people die without medical insurance, but we cover pets. That’s the disorder I am talking about.

I have to disagree. Animals don’t have the capacity to love as humans do. Some of them like to be with us, they get used to us, and they like being fed regularly.

I love my animals (cats, donkeys, chickens, rabbits) but I am always aware that their main “emotion” is cupboard love.
Animals love unconditionally ! My Dad had a lovely Doberman , she laid beside his bed the last two weeks when hospice was there. Three weeks after he died, so did she. My Mom loved her much, spent much money for Vet, nothing wrong with her, she died of broken heart! That is love !

We don’t have a national socialized health care system for cats and dogs. People are buying the pet health insurance to save* themselves* from unexpected expenses, just like when they buy insurance for their cars and their homes and warranties on their appliances, all types of insurance which have all been around a lot longer than veterinary insurance.

That we won’t pay for preventative care for people who didn’t (or can’t) buy their own insurance but will only pay when the person is so sick that they have an expensive problem and a lot more suffering…don’t get me started. It is a variant on “I am not my brother’s keeper” (although some would say “the Grasshopper and the Ant”, too.) It is a scandal, but it isn’t the fault of the cats and the dogs.
