That’s a quote from a film coming out this weekend called, ‘Calvary’. The plot revolves around a good priest in Ireland. One day, a parishioner comes into the confessional to confess that he had been abused as a child by a priest and in revenge (since the offending priest had already died) was going to kill this good priest in a week. It’s a bit of a whodunnit, but looks like a great film.

It’s probably not in wide release, so I would urge a bit of support for a film about a good priest.

As for the title of the thread, I’d say it would be a good basis for the New Evangelization, no?

He’s right, virtue is a primary weapon to destroy sin, unite us to Christ more closely, and makes us generally much happier people! We ought to desire it more than we do and strive for it.

We have to balance both sin and virtue.

Sin can be very good…St. Paul tells us where sin is, grace abounds; and the Little Flower tells us good come from sin, for because of sin we are able to experience the mercy of Christ.

Both need to be discussed. In today’s world not enough is talked about sin (people hardly even acknowledge that they ever sin). In the past, sin was focused on a lot more.

I don’t think one can talk too much about sin or virtue. We need to have a good grasp on both to lead holy lives.
