I’ve never watched Long Island Medium but Theresa Caputo was on Ellen today. I know the Bible warns us to stay away from the occult but what do you make of this woman’s ability to receive messages from the dead?

She seems to be a beliver in God and, I assume she feels her “gift” is God given.

dangerous because she’s not interacting with saints in Heaven.

It could very well be real, but she doesn’t know who/what she’s interacting with.

The Church says no to mediums therefore I say
no to Caputo.

How do you know this to be true?

If it is demons communicating with her (or any medium for that matter), we are told they lie, but what if the messages can be proven accurate and are not a lie? This would seem to imply it may not be a demon…another way to be absolutely sure…ask the spirit about God, a Demon cannot lie about this aspect, so if the spirit comes across as loving and faithful to God, that would also imply it is a heavenly spirit.

Ive always thought, If demons can interact with humans in this way, then heavenly entities can and probably do here and there as well.

Judge her by her fruits. Theresa Caputo, by the way, is a practicing Catholic.

Well then, you’d have to ask her Pastor. 😛

I saw the episode…I thought it interesting that when an audience member pointed out that her “spirit” was really the one of the person sitting behind her, Theresa quickly shifted gears to say “these things happen. One spirit can communicate through another”.
Nice save.
I suspect that the one thing that she is good at is making a lot of dough “comforting” grieving people into thinking their loves ones are in heaven. Which begs the question:
Why do they believe their loved ones are not?
I can’t imagine any well catechized person would fall for this ability to spin facts to make it appear that she really knows about their situation. She presents as a nice woman, but she’s in business to make money.
Sad that someone is cashing in on the people who are not dealing with their grief in a healthy way.
Peace.

Y’all are still ignoring the fact that the Church said
no to mediums. So does it matter if she’s getting it
right or wrong? What her “fruits” are? What her pastor
says? No. It is no different then refusing to involve
onesself with disapproved private revelations and
miracles.
The fact that once in a while a name is spelled
right on a ouiji board doesn’t make me go out and
buy one.

Y’all have mistaken my comment for approval.
I do not approve, not does the church.
I was pointing out the obvious scam of it all. And the reference to the pastor was a joke. Like, I was kidding?
Thanks.

That’s exactly right. Theresa, if she is not faking this and is the “real deal”, is not communicating with dead loved ones, she’s communicating with demons.

Do not be deceived folks, this is very, very malevolent stuff and really, you shouldn’t even be witnessing/observing this on the tv. Remember curiosity can be very dangerous, especially pertaining to the occult and dark matters.

The scriptures and Church tradition are our trusted guide on this, we are NEVER to open ourselves up to this. Ever.

Remember that demons can appear to us as angels of light.

Demons do lie but there are very devious, very intelligent and can also tell the truth…and they will…when it serves their purpose (draw souls away from God). But if they tell 99% of the truth with a very damning, dangerous 1% deception, that 1% may be just enough to sway a believer into non-Catholic belief. Some things they’ve said (through other mediums like Theresa):

–There is a heaven (true) but we all go there (not true) and there is no hell (not true), or they may admit there’s a hell (true) but only for those souls who are truly evil (such as Hitler).

Another common deception dished out by mediums:

–There is a God, a one, true God, and Jesus was real and did walk the earth (true). But He wasn’t God (false), He was simply a great prophet (false).

Another common deception:

–That suffering and death is all part of a cycle, chosen by an individual, and we evolve next time around into a higher being (reincarnation).

It will be really interesting to hear Theresa’s thoughts about the afterlife. I guarantee she will have plenty of non-Catholic, even non-Christian beliefs that her spirits taught her.

Demons are wily. There are no secrets between a brother and sister (for example) that only the dead sibling could reveal to Theresa. Always remember that demons are all around us and see what we say and do and can pull these “secrets” out at any time.

Heavenly angels are obedient to God and will never appear to you to talk about experiences with dead loved ones. They will only appear to you if it is God’s Holy Will and for a special mission or purpose and that generally is for the good of the Church as a whole (a teaching, a warning, etc.) and not to soothe an individual’s heart about a deceased friend. And if you have been approached by an angel, the first and only thing you do (as a Catholic) is go to your priest so he can help you discern if it truly was an angel or if it was a demon posing as an angel and you are generally instructed to keep it quiet and between yourself and your confessor (not blab it on tv).

You never hire yourself out as a mediator between humans and angels and you never go on tv for a “contact spirits on demand” show. That’s not at all how God runs things and I would be very, very surprised if she is indeed a practising Catholic and doing this stuff with clearance from her priest.

This is very, very serious and I personally prefer to give Theresa the benefit of the doubt that she has genuine intentions and is not a fake/fraud. However, that can only mean one thing: she’s unwittingly calling up demons and she is in very serious trouble. As are her customers who seek this out. We should pray for her.

And please, please, turn the channel and do not watch her communicate with demons. Do not let this in your house.
