Sad, to be sure, but let’s not speculate on the eternal destination of their souls.

Instead of speculating as to their eternal destination, we should all pray for them. They are following the advice of professionals, whose own advice is seriously misguided. It’s clear they want to do their best for their son, but have been badly advised, it would appear.

On the other hand, it is conceivable that the child is biologically transgendered (ie has external male sex organs but an XX chromosome and female internal sex organs (there are very rare one-in-several-million cases of ‘men’ with ovaries in their scrotum or ‘women’ with testes where their ovaries should be). In that case, the idea of raising the child in accord with her biological sex until they are old enough for surgery could be morally legitimate. We do not know, so should not speculate.

I agree–we should pray for them. We should also pray for the child.

There is no such thing as a “transgender 1st grader.”

Oy freakin’ vey.

He’s a kid. Make him wear boys’ clothes and show him the proper way to act and identify as a boy.

People really depress me sometimes.

This is retarded, there’s no such thing as a transgender 1st grader… A first grader should barely have any sexual traits period, and definitely not enough to make them identify as transgender…

It’s true we shouldn’t be saying anything about the final destination of their souls, that’s not for us to decide, but seriously… these parents are morons.

It does say “MAY be going to hell”. Technically correct as this is true for everyone.

Retarded??? Really? That’s the best word you can come up with? What is wrong with you? My son has Down syndrome and he, I and thousands of other families resent you using a word to indicate a God-given medical condition as a derogatory word. Do you have any idea how hurtful that word is when used in this manner? You just ended the thread for me. Shame on you.

Didn’t see that coming…

Actually, no, I couldn’t come up with another adjective to describe the kid’s parents. What would you call it? Your child has medical retardation, his development has been hindered by a defect in his genome. These parents have moral retardation, their connection with reality/common sense / truth his been hindered by a defect in their moral development.

That it offended you is unfortunate; but there was no slight intended to someone with a medical condition. These parents, however, don’t have one, they’re just stupid, and morally bankrupt by forcing sexual attributes on to their child far, far younger than the child should even be considering them, let alone making definitive statements about sexuality.

Nor did I…

When you use the term “retarded” as a slur or insult, you are essentially saying that the diagnosis of intellectual disability is a bad thing. Think about it - you used the term “retarded” as a synonym for lousy/terible/screwed up/ridiculous. But real people who are God’s children are “retarded” - and they are none of those things. It is very hurtful to people who love someone with special needs to use “retarded” or “retard” as a descriptor for something you deem to be bad.

I realize that the term has been thrown around, much like “that’s so gay!” has, and many people don’t realize how cruel and crass its usage is. Are you pro-life? I am. Do you know that 90% of parents who learn their baby has Down Syndrome will terminate their pregnancies? I want to make the world a loving, welcoming place where parents feel supported and encouraged when they learn that their baby may be “retarded.” I want to give families ZERO incentive to abort these precious souls. Hearing people use a sensitive medical diagnosis as a slur promotes the idea that the world is a hostile place for kids with intellectual disabilities. I think we can do our part by stopping the use what was once simply a medical diagnosis as another cheap synonym for “stupid” and “bad.”

Let’s get back on topic the “r” is really bad it is considered as bad as te “f” word in my house.

But the above parents are the same parents that wonder why there kids are addicted to drugs at 14 and so on the same parents that let there children decide there own bed time or if they feel like doing the home work. Notice how the self riotous parents are “taking legal action”. This clearly stems from the grandparents dropping acid in the 60’s and having kids that went to raves while doing extacy and now those kids are well in first grade what’s next!!!

I don’t understand transgender but I would say the parents and school are making too big a deal out of all this. Why can’t the child use another rest room for now, like in the teacher’s lounge? Some people do say they always had thoughts they were not the sex they were born as. Not sure if this lasts but maybe when this child gets to be a teen he may say, “ok, I am a boy now.”

Those who are born with both genitals of boy and girl should be asked how they feel inside when they get older. If they feel like a boy or a girl. They use to leave it up to the parents to say what kind of child they wanted when the baby was born with both then made the genitals to match and it was a mess when the child said he was really a boy when they kept the girl genitals. I don’t know how they handle it when it is all in the child’s brain. I hope the doctors are not making a huge mistake letting the child decide early. Some parents are even letting operations be given to these kids. That is the scary part.

I thought now when they let kids play with both boy and girl toys and let them play the way they wanted this would not be such a big problem but the child still wants to dress the part. Wear a dress to school, etc. It’s no as easy as the feminists would have had us believe.

My uncle is gay and he wanted to be a girl at age 6. What’s wrong with a boy wanting to be a girl and dressing like one?

Homosexuality is not a sin 🤷

btw…my uncle was thrown into an orphanage at age 7 b/c he wanted to be a girl. That’s how they were handled 50 years ago or it was beaten out of them by their parents.

I agree that the child should use a separate restroom. As an adult I don’t want to share my public washroom with transgendered people. A man is still a man even with a dress on.

First of all, I tend to agree with the other Catholics on this one.

if I were the parent of a six-year-old girl I would be uncomfortable with her sharing the restroom with someone who was born male, and I think the views of the other students’ families should be taken into consideration.

Joining in here also suggesting that word not be used. As a matter of fact my cousin’s son has Down’s syndrome as well.

I understand you meant no offense.

If boys who want to be girls and can dress like a girl and use the girls bathroom, and then when older use the girls locker room… well, that’s just wrong.
Transgendered or not, a child with a penis should use the boys room and a child with a uterus should use the girls room. Period.

Think about a boy who is a teen and decided to wear a dress so he can go into the locker room with the girls and see them naked.
There’s no blood test to determine if a transgendered person is telling the truth or not.
I think there is a huge opportunity for this to cause abuse of some sort to someone.

You know, if I had children, I think I would home school them and be done with it!!!

And it seems that everyone has special rights except for the straight Christian person.

Do you mean XX male syndrome? If so, that would actually be a lot more common: 4 out of 100,000.

Amazing what our society has turned into. Parents allow their son to dress as a girl and even put lipstick on him and now everyone is calling him transgendered. For that matter 99.9% of all the supposed transgender people out there are guys with fake breasts. Good grief.

I just feel bad for that child. I wish they would find out what his chromosomes are or if there is some other biological basis for the way he is feeling.
