These people are honestly driving me insane; how do I deal with them?

How do you deal with mean and self-centered people that see themselves as the victim amidst “thousands of horrible people” treating them “unfairly”? Being nice to them will only seem to encourage their actions further, while cutting all ties would seem a bit harsh.

We can be polite to malicious people without encouraging evil actions. Set a good example.

Tell them that they are clearly exaggerating; listen to them vent for a few minutes; then say, “ok, enough whining, let’s move on to something else.”
